As Jean and Rimuru entered her office, Jean sighed, settling into her chair, preparing for the paperwork that awaited her after the recent chaos of the corrupted monsters attacking Mondstadt. Not long after, a knock came at the door. "Come in," Jean called out, and a knight entered, delivering several formal letters. Jean took them, nodding as the knight exited, then glanced at the letters with a weary expression.
Rimuru, who had already made himself comfortable, noticed the letters and asked curiously, "May I take a look at those? It could be important."
Jean nodded, handing the letters over to him as she began to open the first one. "This one's from Liyue," she noted. "It's from Keqing, the Yuheng of the Liyue Qixing."
Rimuru raised an eyebrow. "Yuheng of the Liyue Qixing? Who's that?"
Jean explained as she skimmed the letter. "The Qixing are the governing body of Liyue. The Yuheng is one of the higher-ranking officials, and Keqing is known for her diligence and strong sense of justice."
As Jean continued reading the letter aloud, it became clear that Keqing was inquiring about the situation in Mondstadt. She wanted information on the new types of monsters and how to combat them. Keqing's tone was formal yet concerned, urging Jean to pass along any relevant details that could help protect Liyue from potential threats.
Jean paused, turning to Rimuru. "Should I tell her everything about these corrupted monsters? About Ivaraj and everything you shared with us?"
Rimuru shook his head, his expression firm. "No, not yet. We don't know who we can trust with this information. It's too risky, and we don't know if she's truly an ally."
Jean frowned but then nodded in agreement. "Keqing is trustworthy in my experience, but I understand your caution." She hesitated for a moment, then suggested, "What if we just tell her how to defeat the monsters without revealing their source?"
Rimuru thought for a moment and finally nodded. "That should be fine. They need to protect themselves, but we don't need to give them the full story."
Jean agreed and drafted a response, explaining the method to defeat the corrupted monsters by attacking their cracks with elemental energy. After finishing Keqing's letter, Jean moved on to the others. Each letter from the different nations, including Sumeru, Fontaine, and Natlan, echoed similar concerns. Each leader sought information about these mysterious creatures that had begun to appear outside Mondstadt.
Jean wrote similar replies to the others, careful to keep the explanations simple, focused on how to deal with the monsters, and nothing more.
However, after opening the last letter, Jean paused, her face tightening with concern. "It's odd," she muttered.
"What's odd?" Rimuru asked, noticing her shift in mood.
Jean looked up from the letters, her brow furrowed. "It's strange that we've received letters from Liyue, Sumeru, Fontaine, and Natlan... but nothing from Snezhnaya. The Fatui are always quick to involve themselves in situations like this. I'd expect them to be the first to ask about these new threats. It's even more suspicious considering the Fatui harbingers' numbers have increased recently."
Rimuru leaned forward, intrigued. "And Snezhnaya is the region ruled by the Cryo Archon, right? Why would they stay silent in a situation like this?"
Jean nodded. "Exactly. The Fatui are always keeping tabs on events across Teyvat. For them to not reach out... something feels off. I can understand why we haven't heard from Inazuma, given their isolation, but Snezhnaya? It's unlike them."
Rimuru considered her words for a moment, sensing the layers of political intrigue at play. "Do you think they're planning something?"
"It's possible," Jean said, her voice heavy with concern. "We can't rule anything out. They could be biding their time, or they may already have information about these creatures that we don't."
