After last night, Ash woke up and carefully opened the door to not wake Serena up. He wanted to talk about something. Not to her mom, but her brother. He knew Calem was awake, since he would always wake up pretty early to train up his Pokémon, preparing for what's to come. Ash found Calem right where he expected him to be. He was a bit further away from the house, to not cause a disturbance. Ash went to his training spot, and they started to talk.

"Hey, Calem." said Ash. "Oh, hi. Didn't expect you up so early." said Calem. "Well, I used to wake up early for this same purpose too. But after all this time of doing that, and becoming Monarch, I felt like I needed a break from waking up early." said Ash. "Huh. Well, why did you come here anyways?" asked Calem. "Alright, here we go..." "So, I wanted to talk to you about something. It's about Serena." said Ash. "Oh, sure. What about her?" asked Calem.

"Well, you know how I've traveled through every region, each with some different companions. Half of them were girls. Misty, May, Dawn, Iris, the alolan girls, and, well, Serena. I've never really felt anything for them. I'm pretty, dense, as people would call me. But I feel different around Serena. I dunno, I feel like we just have something different than everyone else. She feels...special to me. I get Butterfrees in my stomach whenever I'm near her. And since you're her brother, I assumed you would know." Ash said.

 Calem facepalmed internally. Serena had told him about Ash and his density, but he never expected it to be this bad. At least he knows he's dense. "Ash, let me ask you a question. Do you feel romantically attracted to her?" "Well...I guess you could say that. I feel like I can't just leave her. Sometimes I say these weird romantic things out of nowhere. Like sometimes I call her cute when she's sleeping, or sometimes I imagine her on top of me, or anything like that." "Well, that means you're attracted to her, and also get horny thoughts about her from time to time." said Calem.

"Horny? What is that?" asked Ash. Calem whispered it to him. "Ohhh, ok." said Ash. His mother had told him not much about "making love", or well, sex. All he knew was he wasn't ready for it. "Well, Ash. To put it simply, you're in love with my sister." said Calem. "Love, huh? Really? I knew I felt differently about her but not like this." Ash knew little to nothing about love, so he was pretty confused. He understood slightly, but got the point. "Well, thanks, Calem. I'll get it eventually." said Ash. Calem was surprised by his stupidity, but he knew Ash would be a great person under that dense shell, which was halfway broken. He'd let Ash's heart take it from there. 

They were about to start training, until... "Damn, I'm hungry." said Calem. "Yeah, me too..." said Ash. "Chesnaught, return." said Calem. They went back to the house to have breakfast. "Ash! Where were you?!" said Serena. "Yeah, uh, sorry about that. I went to talk with Calem." said Ash. "Alright, Ash, but tell me next time, ok?" said Serena. "Ok, Serena. I just didn't wanna wake you up, ok. You looked so cute when you were sleeping." said Ash. She was surprised at the compliment, while she felt his dense shell break a bit more. However, she had a trick up her sleeve.

"So, you're saying I don't look cute when I'm awake?" said Serena.

"No, I-uh, didn't mean it that way...you always look cute, Serena." 

"Well, I think you two lovebirds should start eating." said Grace. They finished their breakfast, and back to Lumiose they went. "Goodbye, Ash. I hope I see you again, either as my sis' boyfriend, or as my brother in-law." He said the last part more silently. "Bye, Calem." said Ash. Ash and Serena got on the monorail back to Lumiose City.

"So, Ash...I couldn't help but overhear that you were going back to Kanto when you were battling Calem a few days ago. Is that...true?" Serena asked. "Well, I did wanna be there for a while, before revisiting Sinnoh." said Ash. Serena was pretty sad, as their hearts grew distant, until she got an idea. She wouldn't mention it right now, but she would mention it when Ash and her are a thing.
