Chapter 10: A Romantic Affair

They got off the monorail, and were back at Lumiose City. "I hope Clemont and Bonnie don't feel lonely without us." said Ash. They made their way to Prism Tower, and were greeted by Clemont and Bonnie. 

"Where were you guys?! We were worried sick!" said Clemont. "Sorry...we decided to go to my mom's house yesterday...we forgot to tell you guys..." said Serena. "To your mom's house? To get her bles-" "What Bonnie means, is why did you guys go there?" said Clemont, interrupting Bonnie. "Well, I wanted to see my mom again, and Ash decided to tag along!" said Serena. "Well, you're back now. Wanna watch TV?" said Clemont. They sat down to watch TV for the evening.

A few hours later, at nighttime...

Serena woke up from her sleep. She wanted to go to the balcony to think. So, she carefully opened her door trying to not wake Ash up. Little did she know, she woke him up. But that's for later. She thought she was the only one awake. Until...

"Oh, hi, Clemont. Why are you here at the balcony?" asked Serena. "Well, I find it relaxing. Plus, I can hardly sleep." said Clemont. "Hm." said Serena. "Well, since you're here...I wanted to talk to you about something. You know Ash. Does he like anybody?" asked Serena. "Do you like him?" asked Clemont. Serena was blushing.

 "Serena, it's obvious you like Ash. Even I know. Let me tell you something. Ash doesn't really know much about love. Sure, he's learned here and there, but he doesn't realize he loves you. You need to tell him your feelings before he leaves, or he'll just never really do anything back. If you don't do it...he might not even come back to Kalos. I know what he came for. He came for you. If you don't tell him your feelings, he'll give up and go to another girl he might've met. So do it. For Bonnie. But most importantly, for Ash. "

Serena was surprised. What Clemont was saying was right, but she never imagined him being pretty much a therapist. "Wow...I never thought of that. Thanks, Clemont. How do you know so much about this? And how are you not dense anymore?" "Well, let's just say I'm in a...romantic affair myself." Clemont replied. "Clemont? In love? Hm. If he's able to overcome his density, then Ash might be able to as well!" thought Serena. "Who are you dating?" Clemont was drinking some lemonade, and that comment made him spit it out.

"Oh! Erm, why do you ask?" said Clemont. "'Cause I wanna know." said Serena. "Fine. I'm dating Korrina. As to how Bonnie knows a lot...she, uh, walked into my room, while I was..."playing with Korrina" That's all she needed to make herself, more...annoying than ever before." Serena was surprised to the fact he was dating Korrina, but even more surprised when she heard the "playing" thing. 

"But anyways, to prove my point, you should go confess to Ash right now." said Clemont. Now Serena wished she had just stayed asleep. "C-Confess?! First, Ash is sleeping. And second, how the heck am I gonna confess to Ash right now?! I haven't even thought about what to say!" said Serena. "Don't worry, it'll come to you naturally. That's what happened to me. Oh, and, about the sleeping thing, he went out of the room minutes ago." Serena was shocked. 

"When did he wake up? I thought I was silent!" She thought to herself. She then went downstairs and outside to look for Ash. 'Good luck, Serena." said Clemont. Serena found Ash leaning down on a tree. She was going to step in, but she realized Ash was talking to Pikachu about something.

"Hey, Pikachu. You awake?" said Ash. This is a pretty relaxing spot, I can see why you'd be sleepy. Pikachu woke itself up and yawned, but then smiled at Ash. "I should've probably talked to someone better about this, but here it goes." Pikachu was offended, but also curious as to what Ash wanted to talk about. 

"You see, Pikachu, I came here to fill the missing piece in my life. You know that already. But...does she like me back? The only reason I came to Kalos was for Serena. Otherwise, I wouldn't have paid for the flight here. She's always red as a Tamato Berry when she's near me. Maybe that means something. But does she really like me back? I guess the kiss on the escalator shows she does, but...after seeing how bad Brock's done, I'm too scared of rejection. I never told Calem about this, but I feel like I'm just not good enough for her. I might be the World Monarch, and the Alolan champion, but does that really match with the Kalos Queen herself, as well as one of the best contestants in Hoenn? I mean, all I can think about is battling. Occasionally, she'll show up and change me into a more...flirty mindset in my mind. Sometimes, all I can think about is her. But does she feel the same for me?" Ash ended his speech, while Pikachu looked surprised at his trainer, and best friend's, un-density.

Ash was dense at heart, but seeing like this made Serena happy, when she finally decided to step in. "A-Ash?" As soon as he heard this voice, this is what he thought. "F*ck, did she hear all that? Please tell me she just came here..." Unfortunately, he was thinking out loud. "Ash, I heard what you said. Don't say that." said Serena. "I-I wanted to talk to you about something-" they said at the same time. "You go first." said Ash, "No, you go first. You were the first one here, after all." Serena said. "No! You go first." said Ash. They stood up.

"Fine. I heard what you said anyways. *deep breaths* See, Ash, I've always felt like you were a bit dense. Well, no. A bit is an understatement. It was like a truck full of dense-ifiers was thrown at you.  But Ash Ketchum, don't think I stopped liking you then. Even with you being so dense, I never gave up. I guess you could say I never gave up til' it was over. Miette always forced me to be so nice with you, as I was afraid I'd lose you to her. I tried and tried. But you would never understand. I even decided to well, kiss you at the airport, and try making you get the message. But now, I see. Ash, I would never reject you. Ever since the summer camp, I felt so lonely without you. You were the only friend I had. The only ray of light I had in those dark days. You helped me.  And when I saw you jump off Prism Tower in the news, I had found you again. But you almost died! If it wasn't for that Mega Blaziken, I would've never set out to find you. I would've been stuck as a Rhyhorn Racer for the rest of my life. But you changed my life.

 And that's why... I love you, Ash."

 And those three words was all he needed to realize. Ash was astonished. 10 years of loving Serena, and he hadn't even noticed. He couldn't believe he was so dense, as the dense shell protecting Ash from any successful relationship...had faded. Everything suddenly clicked in his mind. He finally knew the true meaning of love. All the flirty sides, as well as some of the...dirty sides of love. 

"I'm sorry for almost dooming your life, Serena. If I had known you were watching, maybe I wouldn't have let Pikachu fall off and let myself jump off the tower. I also somewhat felt your same feelings when we finished the summer camp. I can't believe I was so dense, though. The truth is, I feel everything you said for you. But you were happy and enthusiastic, with me trying to figure out what the hell you meant. I couldn't stand Miette's teasing, but my dense brain followed along with it. And while you weren't one of the first friends I had...

you were definitely the best. And that's why...I love you too, Serena." "W-Will you be my girlfriend?"

Serena had finally achieved what she wanted for all these years. True love, with none other than Ash. "YES, ASH! A 1,000 TIMES YES!" she said.

Serena was in tears and burrowed her face in Ash's chest. They both hugged, and later stopped hugging, as Serena had a plan. She held Ash's neck with both hands, while Ash hugged close to her waist. Within seconds, their faces were centimeters away from each other. Their lips soon met, and they spent a minute kissing until they needed air. "Thank you, Serena. You made me realize how I really am. Looks like dense Ash is gone!" said Ash. Serena liked the new, not dense Ash. And she was hoping things would only get better as time went on. 

Unfortunately for the new couple, Clemont had woken Bonnie up to see the confession, and they were spying on them for the whole thing. "They kissed again! Yay! The ship is real!" said Bonnie. Bonnie said that a bit loudly, and she blew their cover. Serena was trying to cover up what they just did. "O-Oh, hi Clemont and Bonnie! Wh-what brings y-you two here?" she said. "Serena, don't play dumb. We saw the whole thing." said Bonnie. Serena was red in embarrassment. She kept whining, while trying to cover up what they just did. Unfortunately for them, again, Serena was a terrible liar.
