The sound of gunshots echoed through the night. Hakuba, alert to the sound, immediately checked the railing where the Phantom Thief had been standing earlier. There, he saw a..... drop of blood.
he looked at it in horror. Just then, the rooftop door burst open again, revealing Inspector Nakamori and a few members of his task force.
"What happened here? I heard a gunshot! Did anyone fire? did anyone het hurt?!" Nakamori demanded, his voice laced with urgency. He knew the Phantom Thief's rule: "No one gets hurt." He had always ensured his officers refrained from using firearms.
He knew the Phantom Thief wasn't a bad criminal; he always returned the jewels he stole and had even saved him on multiple occasions. He was certain the Phantom Thief isn't the one who fired the shots.
"Calm down, Keibu. No police officer fired. Here I retrieved the jewel," Hakuba said, handing the jewel to the inspector, who accepted it with relief.
"But… I think you're not hearing things. I heard a gunshot too, and look, I think you need to see this," Hakuba said, pointing to the railing with the bloodstain. "I think… Kid got shot."
The police and the inspector froze in shock when they heared hakuba said that and lok at what he is pointing. indeed there are drop a blood in the railing.
"Who shot him? If it wasn't the police, huh!" Nakamori roared. "Go check the surroundings for any suspicious individuals and search for Kaito Kid. Don't tell anyone about this yet, especially the reporters. Now, go!" The inspector exclaimed and the officers sprang into action, their faces grim.
"Hakuba, wipe the blood. Make sure there are no traces," Nakamori instructed. And Hakuba nodded, he was already planning to do so. He couldn't let anyone discover Kuroba's secret, his true identity. ({•~he is being a nice friend😑~•}) but he cant help but ask,
"But Keibu, don't you think this is evidence? We could check Kid's DNA or even his identity. Even if we wipe it, it could still leave traces if someone uses luminol," Hakuba stated looking at inspector Nakamori who stopped, and look at hakuba his brow furrowed.
"Just do it. If anyone, especially the reporters, finds out that Kid got shot, we, the police, will be questioned. And if we say we weren't the ones who shot him, they'll ask who did. And that's what we don't know. We need to find out who shot Kid and why. Plus, we can't let the person who shot Kid get any of his blood. If they did, they might find out his identity and kill him for real," Nakamori said then leave, leaving Hakuba alone to clean up the blood. Hakuba look around the area, hoping to catch a glimpse of the shooter, but unfortunately he saw nothing.

"Ugh," Kaito groaned, clutching his stomach as he soared through the air in his hang glider. His white attire was slowly turning crimson with his blood.
"Jii-chan, I-I'm going back home to my apartment in Beika. You should go home too," Kaito said through his earpiece, trying to sound as if he wasn't in pain, not wanting to worry jii-chan.
"/Bochama, are you alright? You sound…/" Jii asked, concern lacing his voice. Kaito hummed in response.
"I'm f-fine. Just exhausted. Anyways, bye," Kaito said,
/yes be safe have a great night bochama/ jii said and kaito hummed cutting the earpiece off. He hissed in pain, the wound in his stomach throbbing.
'Damn it. Why of all days did they decide to shoot me? I'm sure Hakuba and the police noticed and heard the gunshot,' Kaito thought. 'Ugh, I hope I didn't drop any blood on the railing.' kaito stated as he again groaned in pain
'It'll be bad if they find out my DNA, worse, my identity,' he thought, his vision has began blurring.
'This is bad. I can't lose consciousness now, dammit,' he thought, struggling to stay awake. But after a few seconds, his vision blurred further, and his hang glider lost control, sending him plummeting towards the ground. Luckily, he landed in a tree, then tumbled into the bushes.
He looked around, even if his vision blurry. 'It seems I fell into someone's house or garden. This is bad. I can't stay awake anymore,' he thought, hearing a glass door opening, probably the door that leading to this garden.
'Someone's coming. I need to go and hide, but… I can't move.' He saw the figure approaching closer to him
"Kid?!" he heard the figure say, running towards him. 'This voice sounds familiar, but I can't remember. My brain isn't functioning well'
"Hey!!!…-ake…up!!!…-ey!!!…-id!!" He felt the stranger shaking him, tapping his cheek. He saw they were shouting something, but he couldn't hear it properly.
'This is bad. My hearing is also…' he thought, trying his best to keep his eyes open. But then he felt the stranger caress his face and put their hand on his forehead.
'Whoever this is, their hand is warm… I feel sleepy.' Slowly, Kaito couldn't fight it anymore and finally lost consciousness somehow he felt that he can trust that this stranger wouldn't give or report him to the police.
