My eyes slowly opened as loud alarms awakened me. Flashing lights.. so someone must've seen, and called the cops.. a bit late, don't you think?..I slowly stand up, Mike's arm slowly sliding off of my body. His blood stained my fur, but nothing really mattered at the moment. A bright white light flashed into my face. I squint and turn my head away, preventing the light from entering my eyes. A man held the light. He switched it off as he approached us. Alarmed, I stood in front of Mike in a defensive stance, growling. I don't want anyone touching him. I barked at the man, warning him that if he gets closer, I will bite. It didn't work, as I was simply shoved out of the way. I did bite him, but he didn't even flinch. What was this guy wearing? It kind of hurt my teeth a little. The man inspected Mike's body. I watched as he looked thoroughly at the scene. Soon enough, he picked Mike up and began to walk away.
"Wait- hey!"
I barked at the man and tried pulling him back, but I was only kicked away."Stop!" I bark, "That's my friend!"
Nothing worked. They took him away. And left me alone. .. why? Where'd they go?..I decided to wait. Maybe they'll come back..? I sat down, covered in blood. I probably look insane.
—
It's been so long. They really left.. they took Mike away.. I sighed and stood up, ready to go home. What will his parents say?..
the walk back was painful. I was alone, alone with nothing but my thoughts. Walking alongside emptiness, which should've been filled with Mike.God, I miss Mike.
It took me a while, but I made it back. I enter through my doggy door. Everything was quiet.. I checked all the rooms, except for one. His parent's room. .. but I'm not allowed in there.
I think I'll wait in my room.
—
My eyes snap open. I fell asleep. There was muffled yelling coming from another room. What was going on? I step out of the room, heading towards the noise. His parents.. they don't seem to be taking this lightly.. of course they wouldn't. His dad was saying some bad things. Honestly, I wouldn't mind if he did what he was wanting to. Hell, I'd even help him. It was well deserved anyway.
Wait-
Did he mention me?
What did I do?.. not my job, that's what.
I bark at them. Maybe we can settle the misunderstanding. I mean, it wasn't my fault. ... right?
Mike's parents turn to look at me. His dad begins to approach me, fuming with anger. Uh-oh. I should've just stayed silent."It's because of this damned dog! He's useless!"
Mike's dad yells as he lands a kick on me. I yelp out and fall to my side.
Useless?.. I tried.. I swear I did.. I didn't mean for anything to happen..I was then picked up and taken outside. Where are we going? What's happening? His dad places me in the passenger car seat and starts driving. A trip! .. at this time? This isn't the moment for car rides..
I lay beside him. The ride was long. It'd be more enjoyable if Mike were here..
The car then came to a sudden stop. Are we back home? I look out the window. This isn't home.. the door opened. I get picked up again and placed on the grass. Why're we out here? This doesn't look safe..
I look around in confusion.I hear the door slam shut and before I knew it, the car was going away. Wait.. wait.
"Wait!"
I bark out. I try running after the car. I can make it! Please don't leave!
I run and run. Ugh, how much I hate running.
Why?
Why wasn't this working? Am I really that slow? I stop, panting. The car was too far now. Why? I don't get it. I don't mean for this to happen.I'm sorry..
