After the college function, Chandani had already planned to stay with her friend Riya for the night. Her parents knew, and she was looking forward to a quiet evening with her friend. As they walked out of the college gates, Vikram approached her with a smile.

"Chandani, aaj tum bahut khoobsurat lag rahi thi, aur tumhara dance... itna mesmerizing tha ki main apni nazrein tumse hata nahi paaya," (Chandani, you looked very beautiful today, and your dance... it was so mesmerizing that I couldn't take my eyes off you)he said, his voice filled with admiration.

Chandani blushed and looked down shyly, "Thank you, Vikram."

He continued, "Tum kahaan ja rahi ho? Ghar ja rahi ho? Main drop kar deta hoon.(Where are you going? Are you heading home? I can drop you)

She shook her head, explaining, "Nahi, main Riya ke ghar ja rahi hoon, aaj yahi rukne wali hoon."(No, I'm going to Riya's house, I'll stay there tonight)

Vikram, ever the gentleman, offered, "Achha, toh chalo main tum dono ko Riya ke ghar chhod deta hoon."(Okay, then let me drop both of you at Riya's house)

After a moment of hesitation, Chandani and Riya agreed to the offer. They both got into the car, and the drive was peaceful until suddenly, the car slowed down and came to a halt.

"Shayad gaadi mein kuch problem hai,"(There might be a problem with the car) Vikram said, frowning as he got out of the car to check. A few minutes later, he returned with his hand bleeding.

"Vikram, tumhare haath se khoon beh raha hai! Yeh kaise hua?"( Vikram, your hand is bleeding! How did this happen?)Chandani asked, concerned.

"Jab gaadi thik kar raha tha, tab chot lag gayi,"( When I was fixing the car, I got hurt)Vikram explained casually, though the pain was evident on his face.

Despite the injury, he started the car again, and after a few minutes, they arrived at Riya's house. But Chandani couldn’t ignore the fact that Vikram was clearly in pain.

"Riya, tum ghar jao. Main Vikram ke saath hospital ja rahi hoon. Uska haath treat karna zaroori hai," (Riya, you go inside. I'm taking Vikram to the hospital. His hand needs to be treated)Chandani said, her voice firm.

Riya hesitated for a second but nodded, "Theek hai, Chandani. Tum log khayal rakhna."(Alright, Chandani. Take care)

At the hospital, Vikram’s hand was bandaged, and though the injury wasn’t severe, it was enough for Chandani to feel responsible.

"Ab hospital se wapas mere  ghar jaana theek rahega, bohot der ho gayi hai. Aur waise bhi, main injured hoon," (It would be better to go to my house after the hospital. It's getting late, and besides, I'm injured)Vikram suggested as they walked out of the hospital.

Chandani hesitated for a moment but finally agreed, "Theek hai, chalo. Tumhara haath bhi theek nahi hai."(Alright, let’s go. Your hand isn’t even healed yet)

Trusting Vikram, she accepted his offer, unaware of the path her life would soon take.
