He was rocking back and forth on his berth, tears rolling down his face, enjoying the silence. For once wanting to do nothing but disappear into nothing. It has been a hard week for him, with nightmares, constant blame, sometimes for things he didn't even do, doing most of the chores of the place, and Heatwave being mad at him. He was tired of it all, tired of everything. He was just ready to give everything up and return to Cybertron.
"Hey Hotshot, ready to play some cube?" Whirl asked, barging into his room. That was another thing, he had no privacy and the others would just come in whenever they want.
"Maybe some other time, I'm kind of tired right now, Whirl," he said, trying to not allow his voice to crack due to crying. He didn't have the energy or mental capacity for anything today.
"Oh, okay then. Then get some rest, Hotshot. We can play some other time," she said, clearly down, but Hotshot did not care enough. She left as he cried some more. Soon enough he passed out due to sheer exhaustion.
Timeskip brought to you by revolting recruits
Hotshot woke up in the middle of the night, sitting up on his bed. He still felt tired but couldn't really sleep. He needed energon though, so he went to get some energon. It was midnight, so the chances of someone seeing him this late at night was unlikely. Still, he used his experience of sneaking around that he learned on the streets of Cybertron to really make sure no one saw him. Hotshot just didn't want to deal with anyone yet. However, he wasn't too successful as Heatwave managed to spot him.
"Why are you up Hotshot? You should be asleep," he exclaimed as Hotshot deflated and felt defeated.
"I just woke up. I have a few issues with staying asleep. Plus, I need some energon, I didn't have much yesterday, and I am low," Hotshot said in the deadliest voice ever. Heatwave was startled for a second before nodding.
"Then I will take you there, come on," the older mech told him, leaving no room for argument. Hotshot just sighed and followed behind, ignoring the weird looks that he was getting from the other in front of him. It was nothing new to him, as he always got strange looks no matter where he goes. The two arrived at the storage, in which Hotshot grabbed a cube and went to leave. "Where are you going?"
"Back to my room. No offense Professor, I am not really in the mood to be around someone right now," he responded, leaving his mentor in the room, who was standing frozen on the spot. He had the energon on the way to his room, in which he had finished once he got to his room. Hotshot dumped the container into a corner of his room before plopping down onto his berth. He laid face down for a good couple of seconds before turning to lay onto his back to stare up at his ceiling. When he closed his eyes, he fell in and out of sleep until the morning. That was when Wedge barged in, giving him a disappointed look.
"You need to get up Hotshot, we got school!" Wedge told him before instantly leaving. Hotshot groaned but got up either way and got ready. His movements were dragged but he still was able to get ready for school. Most of the day was went by for him in a daze, barely able to process things, in which he could feel a few gazes on him. He was tired and wasn't ready for today with Heatwave. When classes were done, nearly all of the recruits, teachers, and mentors were all in the lounge, the only one missing was Heatwave. Hotshot was just down on the lounge chair when Heatwave came into the lounge.
"Hey, Hotshot, I need your help to do something," Heatwave said, which caused Hotshot to slump down and groaned. He didn't want to do anything right now.
"What? It's Friday, and we are not doing mentorships on Fridays," Hotshot groaned, which caused everyone to look at him in shock. Heatwave narrowed his eyes at him.
"Hotshot?" Whirl asked confused, asking the silent question that everyone was asking, one that they all could hear. Hotshot looked annoyed but sighed before sending his mentor the most annoyed look ever.
"What do you want? I don't have all day so you might as well get to the point," he growled, causing a few people to flinch, not used to the recruit so annoyed, or angry.
"I was going to ask you to help me with something, but now I am wondering if your okay," Heatwave asked, confused and worried, which finally set Hotshot off. He stood up and turned to Heatwave as the room turned chilly. It caused a chill down the spines of everyone in the room as Hotshot growled.
"Okay? Okay?! OF COURSE NOT! Of course not. But you wouldn't know, would you?" Hotshot yelled. Heatwave was about to say something, but Hotshot's glare shut him up.
