Ron PoVThere I was, rushing to platform 9 1/3 for my long awaited first year of Hogwarts, I quickly glanced at one of the clocks on the train station wall and started jogging faster. I could barely keep up to my older brothers and little sister since my trolley was really weighing me down. My older brothers, Percy, who was going into his fifth year, Fred and George who were both going into their third year, obviously couldn't bother to help me.
Finally we arrive at the brick wall between platform 9 and 10. Percy goes through first, saying some crap about being a perfect there for he was more important. Right before Fred goes through the wall to get to the platform, my mom see's two boys with trolleys similar to mine and goes over to help or what not. I rolled my eyes as she gets into a conversation with the boy with glasses and an owl, didn't she notice we were going to be late. I've been going with mom to drop off my brothers since well since I was born and every year we'd be late and she'd still try to help a stranger if they were lost.
"Ron let these two boys go in front of you. FRED GEORGE, hurry up, we're gonna be late, get through the platform now." Said my mom pointing towards the wall with a stern expression.
Fred and George ran through the platform one at a time, then my mom sent the two black haired boys through the wall. The shorter one went first, he went through without hesitation, looking at ease walking through a brick wall. The second one was a bit more hesitant and anxious to go through.
"You just gotta go quick, if you get scared then shut your eyes." Said my mom, trying to encourage him. He nodded and sprinted before disappearing through the wall.
Once he was through I took a deep breath and started running, I shut my eyes tight as the brick wall came closer and closer. My trolley felt a bit out of control as I picked up speed but I managed to make it through. Once I was through, Fred and George came over and ruffled my hair.
"Yo Ronnie, the boy who came through, yeah the one with glasses? That was the Harry Potter, we even saw his scar." Said Fred with over exaggerated hand movements.
"Oh mum can I please go in the train to meet Harry Potter, pleeeease." Begged my little sister, Ginny who would be attending Hogwarts next year, giving my Mom her best sad puppy look.
"Next year Ginny, Ronchkin come over you have something on your nose, now stay safe at Hogwarts and make sure to write at least monthly, oh and keep yourself out if trouble." Said my mom aggressively wiping my nose with her finger.
I pulled away and ran onto the train in fear of being late, unfortunately I was one of the last people to board so most of the compartments were already full. I walked down the aisle's until I found a compartment in the very back with only two boys, who happened to be the two dudes we helped earlier.
"Hey mind if I sit here? Everywhere else is full," I ask to the more approachable one with glasses.
"Oh sure, take a seat, also you're Ron, right?" He responded, putting his hand out to shake mine.
"Yeah, what your names," I ask them both, trying to seem polite especially if Fred and George were right and I was talking and shaking the hand of the Harry Potter.
"Oh Im Harry Potter and this is Nico di Angelo," Harry pointed to the other boy who didn't even look up.
"Wait, like the Harry Potter, do you have the scar and everything." I ask wide eyed, scanning his forehead for the scar.
Harry pulled up his hair to reveal the iconic lightning scar,it was much bigger than I had expected, my mouth was hanging open in shock as the train started to chug along. We got into a conversation about Quidditch, which it turns out Harry knew nothing about since he was forced to live with his muggle aunt and uncle, who I found out were major shits. The whole time Nico had his head against the window, either asleep or ignoring us, to be honest I couldn't tell. When I tried to talk to him he just nodded or shrugged his shoulders, obviously not wanting to make an effort to talk.
A few hours later the snack trolley rolled its way down the train to our compartment. "Want anything boys?" Asked the old witch who was pushing it along with a big toothy smile.
I shook my head, unfortunately the cash I brought was specified as emergency money by my mom, who gave me an hour long talk since last year Fred and George spent most of their money on junk food from the trolley and bribery to their classmates and perfects to not report them to Flich.
"Ill take some stuff, oi Ron what do you recommend? Oh, Nico do you want anything?" Exclaimed Harry, enthusiastically looking at the foreign wizarding treats with his bag of money.
"Oh ummm, pumpkin pastries are good, oooh but every flavoured beans are certainly an experience but if you get chocolate frogs you'll a card when you open one." I said, pointing to different items describing them, meanwhile Nico just shook his head no.
"Y'know what Ill try everything thats good." Harry gave the lady the money and started by unwrapping a chocolate frog.
I put my homemade sandwich, with the wrong meat, aside to be long forgotten as I started eating some of the snacks Harry bought for us to share. Harry opened his chocolate frog and pulled out the card.
"These aren't real frogs, right?" Asked Harry holding up the chocolate that looked pretty realistic compared to the muggle candy he described.
"No, oooh what card did you get?" I peered over to see the card Harry pulled.
"Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore, dang thats a mouthful, wait... isn't that the headmaster." Harry showed me the card reading it quickly. "Do you want it, yknow for you're collection?"
"Oh I already have him, you should start a collection, and yeah he's the headmaster."
Suddenly Nico talks for the first time, interrupting Harry and I. "Holy shit that dudes names longer than my friend Reynas."
"Cool," I said before turning back to talk to Harry about chocolate frog cards. Im not trying to be rude of course but Nico was just creepy and off putting, plus that was the first thing he's said all ride.
I manage to convince Harry to try a suspicious green Bertie Botts every flavoured bean, when an awkward blonde boy walked over.
"Im sorry have any if you seen a toad around, his names Trevor?" He asked, we all shook our head no and he walked away disappointed.
About thirty minutes a toothy frizzy haired girl came over. "Have any of you seen a toad, Neville has lost his." She stated in a very matter of fact tone.
"No we still haven't," responded Harry, "sorry."
"Okay well Im Hermione and this is Neville let us know if you see one. Also shouldn't you have your robes on by now we're going to be arriving soon." Hermione gave us a stern look and put her hands on her hips, acting a bit like my brother Percy.
"Yeah we were just about to go get changed into our robes," I lied to make her go away.
"Okay well then I'll leave you to it." Hermione and Neville walked off, leaving us alone once again.
After the train stopped at Hogwarts and the hundreds of students got off we heard a man yell for the 1st years to head to the lake. I headed over and saw a bunch of boats sitting on the river. I headed to the tall man and I sat in one of the boats, when I tried stepping in, the boat it rocked so much I almost fell out. I struggled to keep in a scream before I managed to get in. It wasn't long before we traveled across the river in the tiny rickety boats, thankfully I wasn't the only who was on edge, actually no one seemed really comfortable. Surprisingly Nico looked the most anxious, he looked green as he gripped on to the sides of his boat so hard his knuckles turned white.
When we reached shore Nico jumped at least a foot to get to land. Meanwhile I took a bit more time to exit, terrified that the boat would flip. When I was finally out I joined Harry as the tall man, who Harry said was named Hagride, led us too the mesmerizing hall where we put into a separate room to prepare for our sorting.
