Between Two Flames?

My mind is spinning with different images, why would the interviewer bring up Mateo sharing woman what the hell was that all about. I don't want to bring anything up in the car so I'll wait untill we sit at the restaurant. We go back to the same Italian place we like and order our food Mateo is smiling like a Cheshire Cat he's clearly happy about how the interview went.

"Wow someone's happy" I laugh
"It went really well do you not think so" he raises an eyebrow at me
"Ya it went good I guess, I didn't think you were going to drop the L bomb tho a heads up first would have been nice"
"Ya sorry it just felt right in the moment we did really well Aria" he smiles
"Ya we did" I nod
"Is something on your mind you don't seem as happy as I am"
"What was she talking about" Mateo furrows his eyebrows
"What was who talking about"
"Naomi, she said you used to share woman what did she mean by that" Mateo sighs and sit back in the booth
"It's nothing Aria I just had a wild few years when I was younger" he rolls his eyes
"Wild few years huh....sharing woman tho" I cross my arms
"Yes Aria you heard it correctly sharing woman, a friend and I used to share woman"
"Mmh share as in both seeing her at the same time and you both didn't know about it" I raise my eyebrow
"No as in me and my friend both shared her together, at the same time" he looks at me
"Why" I look back at him
"Why? Because we wanted to" he laughs
"How did it work tho, did one of you not get jealous" I'm genuinely curious
"No none of us got jealous because we were always together nobody did anything without the other there, it worked because we had communication and honesty and well because we had a community we were apart of"

"And what community is that I've never heard of it" I laugh
"Another time Aria, just let it go" I roll my eyes so much for getting to know each other better
"Don't roll your eyes at me" I look at him he's clenching his jaw
"Excuse me" I sit back and cross my arms again
"You heard me" he looks me dead in the eyes "so don't let me repeat myself" I scoff
"Jesus sorry for trying to get to know you better, for fuck sake is this not what you wanted" Mateo rubs his temples
"Yes it is what I wanted but not this, it's my past it should stay there if I wanted to relive it everyday I would still be doing what I was doing" he exhales
"What friend was it"
"What"
"What friend was it that you used to share woman with" I raise an eyebrow
"For god sake Aria fucking drop it seriously I'm done talking about this"
"Just tell me the name of your friend"
"It was Kyle ok can we fucking move on" Kyle. The guy who painted the picture I loved, some of the comments were out of pocket and I didn't understand them but now it makes sense.

We eat our food and don't talk much, to be honest my mind is spinning with questions. I would have never ever guessed Mateo's passed looked like that, yes I heard he was a bachelor but not to that extent. We finish up our lunch and head back to the car. I turn the radio on because I can't bear to sit in silence. Mateo glances at me a few times but I never look up to meet his eyes. He drops me back to the house, my door opens and he's standing there

"You can drop the act now we're not back at the interview" I bite out. I hear Mateo scoff at me, I walk straight past him and head for the door he grabs my wrist.
"What the fuck is wrong with you we had a great morning and now your being a bitch" oh I know he just didn't call me that
"Being a bitch! I'm being a bitch because I agreed to this to help you Mateo when I try to get to know you better you shut me down and tell me to drop it, your fucking hot and cold every 2 minutes just when I think I'm getting somewhere you fucking change again it's so exhausting" I shout at him
"you are being a bitch Aria, I don't fucking pry into your life or your past, what would you do if I went around and found out about your past and who you slept with"
"Good luck with that" I scoff. He furrows his brows at me "what do you mean good luck with that" oh shit that just slipped out
"I just means good luck with that you won't find anyone" I smile sweetly at him.
"You haven't been with anyone before" he squints his eyes at me
"I have" I lied. He hums. God he's irritating me
"See you tomorrow for the dinner don't be late" I walk away and close the door behind me. I rest my back against the door and take a deep breath.

I go to my room and change my clothes, I still didn't get the answers I wanted. I'm not trying to be nosey but I think if I'm marrying him I have a right to know about things that might come up from his past and not be put on the spot. I go back into the kitchen to Sarah.
"What was that all about"
"What was what all about" I smile at her
"Aria don't play stupid, I heard you shouting at him what's going on"
"The interviewer brought up something about his past and sharing woman, I asked him what it was all about and he just said that he used to share woman with a friend of his and when I asked him to elaborate he just told me to drop it. I got out of the car and snapped at him he started saying shit like what if I dug up your past and about who you slept with how would you feel" I rolled my eyes
"And what did you tell him"
"I told him that he wouldn't find anything, he asked me have I been with anyone before and I told him I have"
"What! Why would you tell him that"
"Because it's none of his business Sarah that's why"
"And you think it's your business to question him about his past" my head shoots up I look at her with a death stare
"That's not fair" I scoff
"Well Aria come on you can't stand there and say it's none of his business when you were doing the same thing to him it's not right"
"Ok I get that but when something like that is said in an interview that I know nothing about it makes me look stupid" I throw myself down on the couch
"Ok does it make you look stupid or are you just feeling a bit jealous" I scoff
"Jesus Sarah listen to yourself I'm not fucking jealous why would I be" I roll my eyes again, I'm starting to make it a habit.
"If you say so Ari" she laughs
"Look my parents are coming tomorrow night for dinner to meet Mateo, I'm a little on edge with how my mother will be you know what's she's like"
"I can stay here for dinner if it makes you feel any better"
"No it's ok I have to get it over with, I appreciate it tho" she nods.

I head back to my bedroom and climb into bed this was supposed to be a good day and now I'm lying in my bed pissed off at myself for how I spoke to Mateo.
