CHAPTER 22: Choosing Hero Names and New Beginnings

The energy in the classroom was buzzing with excitement and nervousness. It was time for Class 1-A to choose their hero names—something every student had been waiting for since the start of the school year. Each name would reflect their personalities, quirks, and their future as pro heroes. Midnight, their teacher for the day, stood confidently at the front of the room, ready to guide them through this monumental step.

"This is your first big step into the pro-hero world," she announced with a wide grin. "Your hero names are how you'll be recognized, so think carefully about what defines you as a hero!"

The pressure in the room was real. Everyone knew the importance of the names they were about to choose. It wasn’t just about sounding cool—this was about identity.

First up, Bakugo strutted to the front with his usual swagger. He scrawled his name onto the board in big, bold letters: "King Explosion Murder."

A collective groan rippled through the class, but Bakugo, true to his fiery nature, didn’t care. Midnight, though visibly unimpressed, sighed and said, "Bakugo… we’ve talked about this. Maybe something a bit less... aggressive?"

"That is who I am," Bakugo snapped back, clearly not planning to change it.

After Bakugo’s dramatic performance, Midoriya hesitantly approached the board. He scratched his head nervously before writing down: "Deku."

Some of the class exchanged confused looks, knowing "Deku" had been an insult once thrown at him. However, Midoriya smiled brightly and explained, "It’s a name that means 'I can do it,' so I want to turn it into something positive."

Midnight smiled approvingly. "That’s a great mindset. I like it!"

Next up was Kirishima. He confidently approached the front and wrote down his chosen name: "Red Riot." The room buzzed with excitement, knowing the deep respect Kirishima had for the hero Crimson Riot, whom his name honored.

"Red Riot, huh?" Midnight mused. "Very fitting. Good job!"

As the process continued, names poured in, each one reflecting the unique talents and ambitions of the students.

Asui picked "Froppy," a cute yet direct reflection of her frog-like quirk.

Uraraka stepped up and, after some thought, wrote "Uravity" on the board, reflecting both her name and her gravity-defying quirk. The class collectively admired how clever it was, with Uraraka smiling sheepishly at the praise.

Yaoyorozu chose "Creati," a name that symbolized her creative quirk of generating objects from her body, while Tokoyami went with "Tsukuyomi," a mysterious and powerful-sounding name that seemed to perfectly match his dark and enigmatic personality.

Kaminari ever the jokester, originally wanted to go with something outlandish, but after some urging from his classmates and Midnight, settled on "Chargebolt." It reflected his electric quirk well, and Kaminari was visibly proud of it.

Then it was your turn. You stood up from your desk, heart pounding with anticipation as you made your way to the front. You had been thinking about this for a while—about your quirk and what kind of hero you wanted to be. Your ability to control water was still developing, but one thing was certain: you wanted to break through any challenge, just like a wave breaking through any obstacle in its path.

With steady hands, you wrote on the board: "Wavebreaker."

The class murmured in approval as you returned to your seat. The name felt right. It symbolized your power over water, but more importantly, it represented your determination and resilience.
