The connection between us

Everything was cold. So cold. If she had enough energy within herself she'd shiver. But alas she didn't, and that scared her. Because her energy was fading and her body failing. She was beginning to loose feeling, the blood seeping below her beginning to feel indistinguishable from the breeze on her skin.

She took a shallow but rapid breath. Panic set in like an infection, rapidly consuming her. Her eyes that were slowly glossing over were wide with terror as her mouth trembled. She so desperately wanted to call out, to cry for help. But her voice was practically gone.

As she thought her time had arrived a blonde blur landed beside her. She couldn't hear the voice, the ringing in her ears drowning out even the most annoying sounds. Still though she found herself being calmed by the presence.

It was then she felt something, something powerful. It slammed into her gut with the force of a hurricane, forcing its way into her body. Her bloodshot eyes widened, her mouth agape as a fiery sensation rushed through her.

This fire burned, but it burned good. It set her cold body ablaze, warming the chill that set in. Her body convulsed, her eyes rolling back. She vaguely heard a scream from somewhere, followed by a panicked call. It didn't matter as her mind was too preoccupied with drowning in this heavenly sensation to care.

The process felt as if it took only a second, a second she was willing to beg to take longer. This sensation was intoxicating, like a hard drug. She was hooked with the first shot, and her body needed more. It was a craving so intense she damn near wanted to rip her hair out and scream for more.

That was what she damn near did when consciousness fully returned to her.

Bolting up, Ino Yamanaka let out a breathless scream as she curled into herself. A shiver racked through her body, causing her to huddle closer into herself. "W-where....?" She croaked out, her throat scratchy. She grimaced.

A door opened up near her, causing her to glance in that direction. In came Sakura Haruno, her best friend. Sakura gasped, rushing forward and hugging her. "Oh my god. You finally woke up!" She nearly sobbed as Ino shivered again. What the hell? Why was she so damn cold?

She shook her head, donning a tired smile. "Yeah....how long?" She rasped as Sakura winced. "Hold on, let me grab you some water." She let go of ino and stepped out. It was only a few seconds later she was back with a glass of water, which ino downed like a dehydrated man at an oasis.

Sakura took that moment to explain. "You've been in a coma for 3 weeks. The mission you went  to was ultimately a success, Naruto having rescued you and the client." She spoke gently as Ino unconsciously clutched her stomach.

"How......how bad was it?" She asked as Sakura glanced away. Ino shakily reached out, gripping Sakura's arm. Sakura sighed. "Ino, you had died."

That revelation slapped Ino in the face before slamming the air out of her. Died? DIED!? H-how was she here then. Was here even real!? Was she still dead!? Was that why she felt so fucking cold!?

Before her thoughts could spiral more Sakura gently grabbed her face, forcing Ino to look into her eyes. "You're alive. I don't know how, frankly I refuse to ask because i'm just glad you're here, but Naruto saved you."

It was then that the feeling of fire rushing through her veins returned. She relaxed slightly. "Naruto....?" Sakura gave her a nod. "Yeah. He's been stopping by quite a lot. Though he sometimes has a guilty look on his face." She mused as Ino zoned out.

Naruto. He had to be the cause of this. He had to have answers. Ino shook her head gently. "Can I see him...?" She asked as Sakura blinked owlishly. A sly grin spread across her face. "Wow Ino, didn't think you'd fall that easy. Then again who doesn't like a knight in shining armor." Sakura teased as Ino's face flushed. She usually would tell Sakura off, but for some reason the idea of being with Naruto genuinely warmed her. It was weird.
