Something was missing, and Barry Allen couldn't quite put his finger on it.
"Okay, let's think," he muttered, listing everything he'd done that day.
He woke up late for work. Captain Singh yelled at him, and Joe covered for him. He speed-ran some forensics before heading to STAR Labs. Right—he'd picked up coffee for everyone first: tea for Caitlin, mocha for Cisco, pumpkin spice for Iris, espresso for Harry, and a latte for Rae.
'Everyone' took their cups.
Then, there was the robbery. He caught the robber. Then, he stopped a fire. Then, he rescued a cat. Finally, he came back to STAR Labs.
And that's where he was now. So, what was off?
The silence.
That was it. And the way everyone was glancing at him, shifting awkwardly.
Was something on his face? He looked around, puzzled.
Then he saw it—a coffee cup. Untouched. Rae's cup.
Dread pooled in his stomach. "Where's Rae?" he asked, scanning their faces. But no one met his eyes. Some looked away, others shifted uncomfortably.
"Who?" Cisco tried to feign ignorance, earning a sharp elbow from Caitlin, whose glare said, act dumb, but not that dumb.
"Barry..." Iris started, her eyes heavy with pity.
He hated that look.
"She's leaving," Caitlin finally said, her voice low and somber.
"What?" Barry's voice was robotic.
"Back home..." Iris stepped forward, but Barry backed away.
"What?" he repeated, as if saying it enough times would make it untrue.
"Uh, Canada?" Cisco piped in, clearly not helping.
"How—how do you know that?" Barry's voice wavered.
"...The group chat," Iris, Caitlin, and Cisco replied in unison, their tones flat and apologetic.
"And none of you stopped her?" Barry spun around to specifically Harry.
Harry stood by the monitors, arms crossed, face unreadable. He offered nothing—no reaction.
Barry scoffed, the sound hollow, before turning and running to find her.
A flurry of moments and memories rushed through him as he ran to all the spots Rae could've gone.
Memory 1
What is she doing here? Barry wondered, barely suppressing a laugh.
