The Cullen house was not what I had expected. Three stories high, one whole side of it built entirely in glass, with white wood and modern architectural structure, it stood tall and beautifully made under the cover of the forest surrounding it.  The sun shined high in the middle of the sky now, but there was too much cloud cover for it to be bright enough to make my skin glow. I was grateful for this, because while I knew now the others would sparkle just as I did, I would feel more anxious if I looked like a rainbow as introductions were being made. As Alice pulled me by her hand toward the wrap around porch in what I assumed was the back of the house, my anxiety spiked stronger.

Standing a short distance from the porch, I could hear the shuffle of feet and the sound of hushed musical voices gathering on the first floor. There was a ricochet of what sounded like gunfire on a TV, playing out through the speakers. In the background was a sizzling, someone cooking on a stove and the hiss of the propane fire that must've lit underneath it. Alice and Edward and I stepped onto the porch and I could smell the aroma of chicken wafting through the open windows that lined the house. The porch was lined with wildflowers abound, white and wood lawn chairs spaced evenly across from each other throughout the landscape around it, and a swing intricately laced with floral decor and potted roses beside it just to the right of the arched entrance. Edward bounded in front of Alice and I, out of our sight into the house. When I heard him enter, he released what sounded like an exhale of relief.

"Bella." He murmured. Her name came out of his mouth like a musical note, filled with much love and adoration.

"Edward!" She exclaimed in a tone that matched his, and I could hear the clash of two stone bodies come together.

Alice pulled me into the house then, almost skipping into the wide open space of a living room with an elongated sectional couch facing a giant screen TV on the wall in front of it, parallel to the glass wall. Placed in front of the couch was a sheer glass coffee table. I realized that the ricochet of gun fire was a video game, playing quietly as characters on a split screen moved through an abandoned building. Sitting on the couch were two men with opposite features.

One sat, knees spread wide and leaning forward over the controller in his large white hands, concentrating hard on the TV. His features were pale with laugh lines at the edge of his eyes, with an expression of focus on his face, seeming frustrated. He sported dark, stout, curly hair with eyes that matched that of Edward and Alice, with a burly stature. To his left side, the other man leaned forward as well, nearly out of his seat as if half standing and clenching his controller with his elongated, olive fingers. He, too, had an expression of deep focus. His hair was cropped in silly jagged trims like he'd cut it with a pair of kitchen scissors, the shade of it matching his brown hazel eyes.

The sound of ricocheting bullets rocked out of the TV again, and the dark haired burly man scoffed loudly in frustration. The TV made a high pitched ping and the screen changed to red letters that read "Game Over" with "You Win!' on the left, and "You Lose" on the right.

"No fair, Seth!" The one on the right exclaimed, and waved his controller at his opponent. "I demand a rematch!"

"It's not my fault you suck, bro." Seth let out a loud spit of laughter, grinning at the man beside him. The burly man laughed at his joke, snickering at the irony.

"Not so fast boys, we have company." Alice announced. "Emmett, would you please come meet our sister?"

Emmett and Seth both peered their eyes away from each other to me, their expressions surprised. I braced myself for danger when they turned their attention, my body tensing to spring.

"You found her!" Emmett exclaimed, his towering figure flashing beside us. My muscles sprang up and I bent into an involuntary crouch. Emmett made no move to match my stance, grinning at me.  Suddenly, the danger went away as fast as it had come. Confused, I stood stiffly straight again in a mere second.
