Straight forward.
Act natural.
A left.
Don't make a scene.
Down the stairs.
Watch out for the guards.
A right.
These were all the different thoughts swirling round the mind of the Cullen coven leader as he entered the Volturi palace. This truly wasn't how he planned his night, or how he thought the past few months would have turned out.
But he only had himself to blame.
With the likes of how he managed the situation with Bella from the start and how he basically gave Edward the freedom to do what he wanted.
It was his problems that he should have delt with when they first arose.
But he didn't.
It was obvious that Edward was Carlisle's favourite to everyone. the man may not admit it, but he had never denied it either. It made sense logically, the boy was his first creation, the first of his new family since he left Italy and the Volturi.
He probably had more emotions for that boy than he did his own mate.
Edward's gift didn't help the situation either, he knew all their thoughts, fears, insecurities. So of course, when they were mad at him, he would always know what to say.
But he couldn't just blame Edward for his actions it wasn't just him, Alice too was very sneaky, blaming why she did certain things on her future visions.
Now that Carlisle looked back, he realised how insane he truly was. Letting two individuals in the family with serious and dangerous gifts dictate how things should go.
He couldn't believe how blind he had been until recently.
Nevertheless, even with how bad their behaviour had been, he knew there was something else going on. He didn't want to believe that Alice was just plainly cruel for no reason.
Which is why he was there, to see Alice. To get answers.
Not just for him but for his family. He was determined to find out what was so dangerous with the Cullen family being friends and civil with Celeste and the shifters.
If anything, Alice should be grateful that the wolves have been so supportive towards them. Instead of their usually threating to kill all of them. Of course, most of their support is because of Celeste.
She was their world.
They wouldn't dare want to jeopardise her happiness over their hatred. It would never change, there will always be the constant tension of generational hate and disgust.
Everyone knew that.
Celeste has deep bonds with both sides, so she wasn't going anywhere that's for sure. No matter what feelings or thoughts Alice had, but he still needed to understand her side of things too.
