AZLAAN'S POV:

An incoming call. The clown emoji next to the caller Id caught my eye.

I hadn't spoken to that maniac in days, partly because I knew he was busy, but mostly because I was trying to distract and distance myself for a reason. It was easier to bury myself in work than-

The phone rang twice before I picked up,
"You need to get your ears checked!", not him starting an argument before even saying hello.

His voice was slightly distracted. The background noise wasn't right.

"Hmm, we'll visit the doctor together.
I'll get my ears checked, and you can get that brain of yours examined," I shot back.

"Bad idea, now -" His voice cut off, distracted by what sounded like aggressive acceleration, making me sit up straight.

"What's wrong?" I pressed the phone.

"Just a second," he replied, his tone sharp now. The screech of tires came through the speaker, followed by Ali's muttered curses. The familiar sound of his car's engine, his precious car that he babied more than anything.

Ali's voice was distant now, as if he'd dropped the phone, but the call was still connected. "Do you think I'll spare you?" he shouted, and his car roared along with him.

Something was really off. This wasn't him being playful anymore.

"Ali! What's happening? Slow down!" I was on my feet now, already rushing out of my room, taking the stairs two at a time.

"Answer me?" I asked again, but all I got in response was the violent symphony of a high-speed chase. It was enough to know he was in serious trouble..? or he was going to create trouble!!. Was someone chasing him? Was he chasing someone? Knowing Ali, either scenario was equally terrible..

"Ali, try not to get yourself killed before I get there..." With that I dashed towards the main gate.

Whatever mess he had gotten himself into, I needed to find him fast. Crazy

"Here, you idiot," I said, making Ali look up moving his forehead which was marked with scratch; his eyes dark with barely contained rage, and his knuckles were raw and bruised, looking exactly like he'd just walked out of a fight..

"I knew I'd find you here."

"How'd you know?"

"Please," I scoffed, leaning against my car on the corner of the street. "The person you are, the chaos you cause-where else would my hot-headed friend end up?"

"Shut up! If you're here to lecture me, get away!" He shot me a look that would have scared anyone else, but I'd grown immune to his temper by now.

"Come on, I'm getting you out of here-"

"Thanks, but you didn't need to. I could have handled it," he muttered, pride wounded more than his face.
"What do you think of me?"

I wanted to punch his already injured face at this point.
I had to, - when your chaos tornado of a friend needs you, even if you want to strangle him yourself afterward, you still had to show up!"

Saying that I dragged him toward my car, knowing he and his car both were in any condition to drive, after his impromptu 'Fast and furious scenes' courtesy of the traffic security.
