At that moment, Shang Weiyu was overwhelmed by a sudden sense of danger. Instinctively, she looked up to see a dark gun barrel aimed at them. Without thinking, her bound body found unexpected strength, and she tackled Gong Qianyi to the ground.

A gunshot rang out. Liang Chuzhi fired, realizing too late that Shang Weiyu's dive had saved Gong Qianyi from a fatal shot. His face twisted with rage at the missed opportunity, his eyes burning with a wild fury. Ignoring the fact that Shang Weiyu was shielding Gong Qianyi, he fired another shot at them.

Shang Weiyu groaned, the bullet finding its mark in her. The pain was excruciating; her features contorted as she fought to remain conscious, determined to shield Gong Qianyi beneath her.

She can't die...

Seeing blood pool beneath them, Liang Chuzhi's eyes glowed with madness. The sight of the betrayal fueled his desire to kill both women. He aimed again, but before he could pull the trigger, something hit him with force.

His grip faltered, the gun slipping from his hand and clattering to the floor. Desperate, Liang Chuzhi bent to retrieve it but collapsed to the ground, motionless.

Gong Qianyi lowered her hand, her own gun still warm. She refused to look at Liang Chuzhi again, focusing instead on lifting Shang Weiyu, whose floral dress was stained with blood. Shang Weiyu had lost consciousness, her face pale, cold sweat beading on her forehead.

When Gong Qianyi cradled Shang Weiyu, she was alarmed by how light she felt, like holding a fragile piece of paper. A profound fear gripped her-Shang Weiyu seemed so delicate, as if she might slip away forever if she let go.

Desperate, Gong Qianyi carried her outside, running frantically.

...

When Shang Weiyu awoke again, she found herself in a white room, everything around her starkly monochrome.

Am I dead and back at the space station? she wondered, recalling a similar scene from her last visit to the station.

Suddenly, the door clicked open, and a figure dressed in white entered, arms full of carnations, their pink and white blooms the only color in the room, a vivid reminder of life beyond these walls.

Shang Weiyu stared blankly at the person clad in white-was that a lab coat?

The nurse, noticing Shang Weiyu was awake, smiled warmly as she closed the door behind her. "Miss Shang, you're awake? The director was right; he predicted you'd wake today. I've brought you some flowers." She gestured to the bouquet in her arms and added, "Miss Gong ordered them."

"This is... a hospital?" Shang Weiyu finally realized she wasn't dead.

"Your leg was shot, so naturally, you're in a hospital," the nurse explained, placing the flowers on a large table by the window.

"Where's Gong Qianyi?!" Shang Weiyu suddenly remembered the last thing she saw before losing consciousness-Gong Qianyi aiming a gun at Liang Chuzhi. If she was safe in the hospital, Gong Qianyi must have shot him.

She hasn't been arrested, has she?!

Seeing Shang Weiyu's alarm, the nurse assumed she feared Gong Qianyi had abandoned her. She reassured her with a smile, "She heard you'd wake up today and went home to make you some porridge. She'd never leave you behind, so don't worry."

As she spoke, the door opened again, and Gong Qianyi entered, carrying a thermos. Their eyes met, and Gong Qianyi beamed as she stepped inside. The nurse discreetly exited, winking playfully at Shang Weiyu before leaving.

"Gong Qianyi, did you kill Liang Chuzhi?!"

Gong Qianyi paused, spooning porridge from the thermos. "You just woke up and aren't worried about your injury-you're asking about the culprit instead?"

Shang Weiyu hesitated, stammering, "I was... worried about you." Her face flushed with embarrassment.

Gong Qianyi, amused by her bashfulness, felt her mood improve. She placed the porridge on the table before Shang Weiyu. "Eat first, then I'll tell you."

Watching Shang Weiyu obediently spoon porridge into her mouth, Gong Qianyi suddenly said, "It wasn't a real gun; it was a tranquilizer."

"But I almost wish it had been real." A cold glint flickered in Gong Qianyi's eyes, sending a shiver through Shang Weiyu.

"Don't sacrifice your life for someone like me... I'm fine, aren't I?" Shang Weiyu feared Gong Qianyi might actually kill Liang Chuzhi. A scoundrel like him wasn't worth it; justice would deal with him.

Gong Qianyi didn't relax, her eyes clouded with shadows as she remained silent.

Sensing the tension, Shang Weiyu noticed something odd-she couldn't feel one of her legs.

"Am I... crippled?" Shang Weiyu asked cautiously, watching Gong Qianyi's carefully controlled expression crack, revealing hidden pain and anger. Her heart sank.

"That's why I didn't kill him-I couldn't trust anyone else to care for you." Gong Qianyi's voice was calm, but only she knew how many times she had suppressed the urge for vengeance, knowing it would lead to ruin.

Suddenly, Shang Weiyu embraced her, causing Gong Qianyi to freeze, her pupils contracting. The warmth melted the ice in her heart, banishing her dark thoughts.

"As long as I have you," Shang Weiyu murmured in Gong Qianyi's ear, pouring a lifetime's worth of tenderness into her words. She lifted herself to kiss Gong Qianyi's lips. The unexpected softness made them both tremble slightly.

It wasn't a deep kiss, just a gentle meeting of lips, yet it felt like the most wonderful thing in the world.

Shang Weiyu pulled back, a blush coloring her cheeks, her gaze averted from Gong Qianyi. "See, I can still get up to kiss you."

Gong Qianyi, finally realizing Shang Weiyu had kissed her, was momentarily stunned, her eyes alight with an unusual glow as she stared at Shang Weiyu's lips, still pale from blood loss. "I didn't quite catch that. Can we do it again?" she asked seriously, only to be hit with a pillow.

Shang Weiyu's romantic mood dissipated, replaced by indignation. "You pervert! Forget what I said!" she huffed, diving under the covers, hiding her head. Mary Sues were just too annoying!

Watching the strands of black hair peeking from the white sheets, Gong Qianyi softly murmured to herself, "I'll be your legs... forever."
