Tw//gore
"Your fucking pathetic" you growled. Pushing your foot against her face. Feeling your boot squish against (s/c) skin You leaned forward. Your eyes flicking back and forth, staring at you was...someone who looked like you. Their face blurry, but the (h/c) messily sprawled over their head.
"Theres a reason im on top and your not-"
You pushed yourself up. Panting. Gripping your locket. The cool metal chilling against your warm palm. Pushing your hand against your hair. Just gazing down at your lap. It was getting to you. The constant threats. The constant fights and accusations. You covered your face. You werent her. What could you do to prove that. It was even permiating into your dreams every night. Every night you dream of the worst version of yourself. Your mind conjouring the worst possibilities in your mind.
Your hands begin to shake. Tears welling in your eyes. You suppose this had been effecting you more than you even relaized. Your chest constricting. You grabbed your pillow harshly. Pulling it roughly against your chest and face. Squeezing it and pushing it against your face.
Yet your still in that fucking cabin. The sounds of snoring echoing off the wooden walls. Your chest slowly rising and falling. Along with the chilling wind that seemed to rattle your bones. It was always so quiet. No rustle of the leaves. No whistle of the wind. Just the quiet steps ever so often. Or a twig cracked.
It was fucking terrifying. Then there was bang. The bang practically rattled through the cabin. Stirring people to life. The thuds of bodies falling from bed. Or the yelps of people all a distant sound. Your eyes only focused on the cabin door. Cold hands against you made you flinch harshly.
Ember pushed herself into your side. Your eyes gazing down at her blankly. Before you pulled her into your arms. Your fingers in her blonde strands. She was shaking like a leaf, feeling the trembles through your core. Your jaw clenched even more. Pulling her behind you. Protectiveness flushing through yet there was still a sort of misty light headed feeling.
Footsteps.
Quiet.
Steps.
Then the door creaked open. Your eyes tracing over the figure.
Yells broke through the cabin. People in the front of the cabin scrambling back. As if they were running from something. A metal glinting in the moonlight.
You pushed yourself up. Holding Ember behind you. Your (e/c) eyes traced down the figures hand. They were gripping the dripping head of...oh. You just stared at Thomas.
Blood dripped fron the gunshot that had gone completely through his eye. He was still breathing but shallowly. Then you fully registered who it was holding the man. Masky dropped Thomas infront of you all.
Someone collapsed. The hard bang against the floor sounded through the dealthy silent cabin. The smell of death ruminating in the air. The smell of iron sticking to your nose and clothes.
Your hand covered over Embers eyes. Pulling her into your side. She didnt even fight against you. Toby then entered, his hatchet hanging from his hand.
"Did any of you know about his plan of escaping?" Masky simply says.
You could hear a pin drop. You looked around. Spotting a younger women. Who stared at her feet, sweat rolling down her forhead. The beads glistening.
You all stared quietly as Toby walked over to her. His neck twitched, the crack rhythmically sounding. He pushed his goggles up. His eyes wide, bags on his pale skin that hung heavily under his eyes. It almost looked like bruising.
"Yuh-ou di-i-id" he whispered, his hand then tangled into her hair, the red strands gripped between his gloves.
She screamed in pain as he yanked her down by her hair. Your hands covered Embers ears as she shoved her face into your stomach. The wetness making your shirt stick to your skin. She was crying.
A man immediately grabbed the girl "Please no she didnt know!" He pleaded with Toby.
Toby looked...maliciously amused. Suddenly his arm began to jerk, laughing alittle bit "she-e didnt-t?" He said innocently.
He lowered his head to the womens face who was sobbing "yuh-ou did-dnt?"
She immediately shook her head. Whimpering as he yanked her head back, forcing her eyes to meet his. His eyes then crinkled. Even with the muzzle over his mouth you could tell he was grinning. Maybe alitle too wide that it seemed to stretch his face. His nose scrunching as he does. Though you noticed the small twitches that happened in his expression.
People where backing away from the two "I. Dont. Believe. You"
The words were taunting. He swung the hatchet into the mans hand. Blood spurting from the mans hand as he screamed and stumbled back. Toby dragging the women by her hair as she cried. Snot running down her face, blood sprayed against her clothes.
"Take this as a warning, if you even think of escaping, or know about someone escaping" The monotone voice of Masky cutting through it all like a knife, like the chill in the air, and the coldness that settled atop your chest.
Toby threw the women right against Thomas. Who was now gurgling blood. His hand reaching for her. Then finally another-
Shot
Though he didnt shoot Thomas's head. He had shot his hand. Making the man gurgle, choking on his own blood. The noises of his breath constricting as the blood clogs his throat. The chopping as Toby rams his hatchets into the women.
You just held onto Ember. Your eyes blank. Your thumb rubbing into Embers hair. As she tried to move out of your hold you tug her tighter.
That lasted throughout the night. The squelching of flesh and blood. The screaming. Even in the morning the remains stayed right in the front of the cabin. The blood and guts barely swept. The blood soaked into the floor. The screams fresh in your dazed mind.
Ember had fell alseep in your arms. Your cheek laid against her hair. For a moment you felt like an older sister. The thought alone seemed to soothe you. Even after everything. the only thing keeping you steady.
"Get up!" A familar voice yelled.
People were huddled together. No one had spoke a word. Whispers along the crowds. You gazed up at Jeff. Fuck you fogot you all still needed to train...to get ready for the trials. They began to gather everyone from each cabin. Everyone had been whispering of the brutal masscare in our cabin.
"The trials are starting soon" Masky says bluntly.
Hoodie as always quiet besides them. His arms folded behind his back. The red stitched eyes in the baklava staring straight ahead. Yet you could feel the eyes on you.
"On-ly thr-ree of you will be making it out a-alive, others will leave in many pieces-s-s" Toby snorted his eyes twinkling.
You gazed down at Ember..she gazed back up at you. A small twinkle in her eyes. for a moment you realized you would keep that in her eyes. No matter what.
You shake your head. Gazing back up at the podium. Toby was staring at you now. His brows furrowed. You kept Ember away his gaze. His nose scrunched. Almost like a snarl. Then suddenly...it was as if he had an idea. His hand jutted out again, almost hitting someone with the axes that hung from his grip.
"Go to your cabins. Your pasta will collect you when its your turn to train" Masky commands.
Your eyes were just locked with Toby. Gulping down your saliva. You hoped whatever he had in mind it would be for you. Not her. idiot.
"Come on Ember" you whispered.
"J-joan, you stay h-h-here" Toby cooed out.
Immediately you stiffened up. Ember hanging onto you. You gripped her shoulder. Gently squeezing it. Motioning your head so she can leave with the group
"T-the girl too"
