Oakley looked up as Kayce walked into the kitchen. She had the twins in the living room watching TV. God knows when Tate would wake up. Kayce's eyes met hers for a brief moment.
"I uh...I'll be in the office today for some meetings," Kayce said. "But home tonight."
"Okay," Oakley went back to picking up the breakfast from earlier.
"Oakley," Kayce sighed.
"What?" She looked back at him from where she stood in front of the fridge.
Kayce's look at her was one of pleading. Oakley blinked twice before focusing back on her task. She walked over to the sink and started to wash the dishes. Kayce came up and leaned against the counter next to her.
"You ain't talking to me," Kayce said.
"I'm talking to you, Kayce," Oakley didn't look at him. "Is this not talking to you?"
"Only when you're forced," He said.
"Momma!" Lee's voice came from the other room. "Can we visit Grandma?"
Oakley paused her scrubbing and leaned up. She turned her head.
"Oakley," Kayce sighed.
"Yes!" Oakley called out. "Y'all go get dressed and brush your teeth!"
The twins' footsteps were heard running up the stairs. Oakley dried her hands after she finished and folded the towel next to the sink.
"We'll be at my mom's," Oakley brushed past Kayce.
"Oakley," He snapped.
"Stop it, Kayce," Oakley whirled around. "Maybe I'm not talking unless forced but maybe it's because I want to scream."
She stepped closer to him, lowering her voice.
"I want to fucking scream my lungs out at you," She hissed. "What I want to do is know why you lied but I already know why you lied and it's because that's what you do for him! It's how it is and I'll get over it because that's what I stupidly always do. But right now I'm not there...so let me just be, please? Can we just talk about it after I've calmed down some?"
Kayce looked upset but didn't push her anymore. Oakley turned back around and left the kitchen, headed upstairs to Elsa's room. The little girl looked up at her mom as Oakley smiled down at her.
"Hey, baby girl," Oakley brought Elsa into her arms and kissed her little cheeks. "Wanna go see Grandma?"

"You look tired," Erin smiled at her daughter.
"Thanks, Mom," Oakley laughed. "I guess having a six-week-old will do that to me...not to mention twins and an eighteen-year-old."
"And a husband?" Erin raised her eyebrow.
"What?" Oakley asked.
"What is it?" Erin wiggled her fingers at Elsa who was in her arms.
"What is what?" Oakley shook her head.
"What'd he do?" Erin raised her eyebrow.
"He?" Oakley played dumb.
"What did Kayce do?" Erin glanced over at the twins who were eating their lunch out in the garden. "You only ever have that look when it involves your husband."
Oakley took a deep breath.
"What he always does, Mom," She frowned. "Didn't tell me something he did and when I found out from someone else it...hurt my feelings."
