Meanwhile, before the incident with the time paradox,
Gaster stepped silently into the darkened room, his footsteps silent as the heavy-set door closed behind him. The air in the room seemed motionless—bizarrely so, like the lull before the hurricane. Standing at the far end of the room was a figure, tall and poised, sheathed in a black suit that seemed to drink the minuscule light.
It was as if the figure exuded some sense of controlled power, its presence being commanded without the need to shout.
"Mr. Blacksuit..." Gaster's voice was flat; the weight in his tone carried from the point of view of having seen far more than most could fathom.
Slowly turning his body, the expression on Blacksuit's face relaxed from blank to almost bemused. His razor-sharp, calculating eyes flickered with faint curiosity as he regarded Gaster. "Hello, hello, hello," he said, his voice smooth and controlled. "You've managed to know my name. Very interesting... What kind of purpose do you process here?"
Gaster nodded to himself—an acknowledgment of the game they were wrestling in now—and his voice maintained its measured tone as he replied, "It is simple. An experiment."
The black suit raised an eyebrow; his posture remained relaxed, but something in his gaze sharpened. "An experiment, you say?" He slowly stepped forward, his polished shoes echoing faintly across the room. "You'll have to be more specific. There are many forms these experiments can take, Doctor." His lips curled into a slight smile, and he seemed to be mildly amused by the vagueness of Gaster's words. "What exactly are you hoping to accomplish?"
Gaster's eyes didn't flinch. "Something that exceeds the normal limits. Something united, something in contrast. Unifying timelines, creating a whole different entity."
Blacksuit's smile remained, but his face hardened ever so slightly. "Timelines... paradoxes..." He let out a soft sigh as if the concept, though intriguing, was still nothing more than another part of his business. "You know, Doctor, I abide by the rules. I work within the structures of the agreements I've made." He spread his hands out in a measured gesture. "And yet, here you are, speaking of things that bend the fabric of reality itself."
There was a pause, and then Blacksuit took another step forward. "Tell me, what makes you believe such an experiment would interest me? After all, even I have my limits..."
A minuscule smile curled Gaster's lips while his eyes didn't lighten in colour at all. "Limits can be expanded. And you, Mr. Blacksuit, are no stranger to pushing boundaries when that suits you."
Blacksuit chuckled softly, nodding in agreement. "You're not wrong there, Doctor. I've been known to take advantage of an occasional loophole." He clasped his hands behind his back, his gaze steady. "But indulging in a paradox does not come without risks. Contracts, after all, are based on stability. If the foundation cracks... everything crumbles."
Gaster leaned his head slightly, his voice calm but firm. "That's why it's an experiment. Controlled. Measured. The benefits, if successful, would be far-reaching... beyond even your current understanding."
Blacksuit tapped his finger to his chin, paused momentarily, and weighed Gaster's words. The silence tugged between them, heavy with implication. "You're an interesting proposition, Doctor," he finally said. "But let's not fool around—I see the risks. Tell me—what makes you think you'd be able to control such a thing?"
