Love is composed of single soul,
Inhabiting two bodies———————————————————
The mission was in full swing, but Lisa couldn’t shake the coldness she’d begun to feel in her chest. It had been a few days since Jungkook had confessed to her, and she hadn’t been able to look at him the same way. His words echoed in her mind: “I like you, Lisa. I think I’ve liked you for a long time.”
At the time, she hadn’t known how to respond. She had always admired him, even as a close friend, but love... real love... she wasn’t sure if she could handle it anymore. Not after everything she’d been through. After the heartbreaks. The betrayals. She had locked her heart away for a reason, and it wasn’t easy to unlock.
Still, she didn’t have the courage to tell him that. So, instead, she began distancing herself. The warmth in her eyes when she saw him started to fade, and the carefree chats turned into awkward silences. She kept her distance, both physically and emotionally.
Tonight, she was on a mission with the others. It was intense, and everything was about precision. But there was a weight on her shoulders, something she couldn’t ignore. As the group gathered around to discuss their next move, Lisa stood apart, her gaze flicking briefly to Jungkook.
He was talking to Taehyung and Jimin, but she could feel his eyes on her from time to time. The moment their gazes met, she quickly turned away, pretending to focus on the map in her hands. Her chest tightened as the tension between them grew, and she couldn’t help but feel guilty. Why was she running from something that could be so... simple?
Jungkook noticed. Of course, he did. He wasn’t blind. The coldness in Lisa’s eyes, the way she seemed to avoid him—it hurt more than he liked to admit. But he was patient. He had always been patient with her, and he’d hoped time would ease the distance between them.
However, tonight, he wasn’t going to let it slide.
“Lisa,” Jungkook’s voice was low, and his tone firm. He approached her as she was looking over a set of papers.
Lisa froze, her fingers gripping the edge of the desk. Not now... not here, she thought. But Jungkook wasn’t going to let it go this time.
“Lisa,” he repeated, a little louder this time, taking a step closer. “Can we talk?”
Lisa didn’t look up, but she could feel the weight of his presence. She couldn’t ignore it anymore.
“Jungkook,” she said, her voice quieter than she intended. “Now’s not the time. We’ve got work to do.”
He didn’t listen. He moved even closer, his gaze never leaving hers. His voice was steady, but the frustration was clear. “You’ve been avoiding me. I don’t know why, but I need to know.”
Lisa turned to face him, her eyes hardening. “I’m not avoiding you, okay? I’m just trying to focus.”
Lisa sighed, her fingers gripping the railing tightly. “I’m not avoiding you. I just—”
“You are,” Jungkook interrupted gently, stepping closer. “And it’s driving me crazy.”
His proximity made her heart race, but Lisa held her ground, trying to suppress the emotions swirling inside her. “It’s not that simple, Jungkook. I don’t want to—”
“Run away again?” he finished for her, his voice soft but firm.
Lisa looked up, startled by his words. The vulnerability in his gaze made her chest tighten. Before she could respond, Jungkook closed the distance between them, his hands gently cupping her face.
