The air was thick with the smell of rain. A storm was brewing, though the sky above was still deceptively clear, as if it were just waiting for the right moment to unleash its fury. Han Sooyoung stood in the middle of the now empty field, her breath steady despite the storm of emotions that whirled inside her. She had failed. She didn’t know how, but the revival hadn’t worked. And now she was left with nothing but a hollow, aching emptiness where hope once thrived.

Her eyes wandered across the horizon, trying to find something, anything to cling to. She felt the presence of Biyoo nearby, but the girl was quiet, her usual cheerfulness replaced by a solemn silence. It felt like the world itself was holding its breath, as if waiting for the next step to unfold.

Han Sooyoung’s mind swirled with doubt. Could they really bring him back? Could they truly defy the inevitable end that had been written for Kim Dokja? She didn’t know. But she couldn’t stop. Not after everything they had been through. Not after everything she had promised him.

“Biyoo,” she said softly, not turning around but feeling the weight of the girl’s gaze on her. “What if it’s too late?”

Biyoo didn’t answer right away, and for a moment, Han Sooyoung thought she might have been asking the wrong question. But then the girl’s voice came, steady and unwavering.

“Then we try again,” Biyoo said simply, like it was the most obvious thing in the world. “We keep trying until it works.”

Han Sooyoung felt the weight of those words settle in her chest. It was simple, and yet, it was everything they needed to hear. She couldn’t give up. She wouldn’t give up. Not after everything they had fought for, not after everything they had lost.

The rain began to fall, gently at first, like the tears they both kept hidden. But soon, it came in torrents, each drop washing over her like a reminder of everything they had yet to do.

“Do you remember the stories we used to tell?” Han Sooyoung asked, her voice barely above a whisper. “Back before everything changed? Back when things were simpler?”

Biyoo’s expression softened as she nodded. “I remember.”

“Those stories always had happy endings,” Han Sooyoung continued, a bitter laugh escaping her lips. “But I don’t know if I can keep writing one for us.”

Biyoo’s eyes never left Han Sooyoung’s face, and for a moment, there was something in her gaze that held more wisdom than a girl of her apparent age should possess.

“Maybe we don’t need a happy ending,” Biyoo said softly, her voice carrying a weight that made Han Sooyoung pause. “Maybe we just need to keep moving forward. No matter how hard it gets.”

The words echoed in Han Sooyoung’s mind, replaying over and over again. Was it possible that they didn’t need a happy ending? Was it enough just to keep moving forward?

The rain began to pour heavier, as if the world itself had made its choice. Han Sooyoung closed her eyes and let the water soak through her clothes, her heart still heavy with the weight of their failure, but something inside her began to shift. A quiet resolve settled within her.

Maybe Biyoo was right. Maybe they didn’t need a happy ending. They just needed to keep moving forward.

With a deep breath, Han Sooyoung wiped the rain from her face and turned toward the path ahead. They had a long way to go, and the road wouldn’t be easy, but she would keep going. They both would.

“I’ll keep going,” Han Sooyoung said, her voice steady now, the weight of doubt slowly lifting. “For him. For all of us.”

Biyoo’s small smile was the only answer she needed.
