Mac's POV

"Why is she here?" Toney asks

"Who?"

"Astrid. She could have saved Madeline, but she didn't. If you ask me, she's just as responsible for Madeline's death as the archer is. She should be locked up," I felt a rush of anger rise with every word he uttered. Astrid doesn't know that she MAY have been able to bring her back. And even then, it hasn't been confirmed that it's even possible. None of it is Astrid's fault. How dare he even suggest it. I have no doubt that Mads would dump him right then and there if she heard him speak so lowly of Astrid.

I don't think twice before socking him in the face. When he stumbles back, I grab him from the collar and throw him onto the table. Food flies everywhere with the impact, and then Toney falls to the ground. I pounce on top of him and hit him again "Say that shit again." I taunt as I continue to punch him. He doesn't reply. His face is bloody and swollen. He looks to be going in and out of consciousness, but I couldn't care less. How dare he say that shit to my face. My arm rears back to hit him again.

"Mac!" I hear Astrid call me, but I ignore her. This little punk needs to learn a lesson about speaking out of place.

Thud

"MAC STOP! YOU'RE GOING TO KILL HIM!" Astrid yells and shoves me off. I step forward to get him some more, but Astrid blocks my path. I take a deep breath and look around to see everyone staring at us. "Someone clean up the rat," I order before walking away.

I go home and go straight into my room, slamming the door behind me. I sit down on the bed. My elbows perched on my knee with my hands in my hair. Today was a shit day. In the morning, I talked to Landon and asked him if he was able to get ahold of the oracle. He was able to, but she didn't tell him anything sufficient. Then, I had to attend my sister's funeral, knowing fully well that she is still out there. Hearing Astrid talk about her as if she was dead...it did something to me. Every bone in my body wants to tell her. I wanted to stop her tears, but I couldn't bring myself to until I knew for sure, even though each tear and each sob chips away at me, eating me inside out like I'm infected with parasites. Then Toney through that bullshit at me.

All this pent-up emotion is starting to get to me. I need to go train to release it before I do something I regret.

"What the hell was that about?!" Astrid says, storming into my room. I look up at her and see the fire in her eyes that had completely disappeared since she had been home has come back. I want to drown myself in the heat of the fame.

Maybe she will let me.

I ignore her and start approaching. My eyes locked on hers. She looks confused, frozen in place. Her body tenses, like it already knows what I have planned, and is simply waiting for her brain to catch up. When I reach her, I push her into the wall and slam my lips on hers. She is quick to kiss back, matching my energy every step of the way. My hands move down her curves and land on her hips while her arms fly around my neck. I trail kisses along her jaw, she tilts her neck for better access. I start to kiss, suck, and bite her sweet spot causing the goddess in my arms to let out a soft moan.

"Mac.." she whines with a breathy voice. "We shouldn't. You just got into a fight. You obviously aren't in the right mindset right now."

I move my lips back to hers to shut her up. She doesn't know what she's talking about. I need this. I need her. I lick and then nip at her bottom lip. Astrid gasps, leaving room for me to slip my tongue into her sweet mouth. I groan at the taste. I will never get enough of the sweet taste of her lips. Her hands move to my chest, lightly pushing me away. Both of us are panting. She moves out of my reach, but I just turn around and take a step towards her.
