The New Lar's (Steven Universe / Lar's)

Chapter 27: Roaming Eye

Lars: The ship has a Gem detection program on it, I highly suggest for both of you to stay in here until we learn of their purpose here on Earth.

Peridot: T-They would of course be after me!

Lars: We can't say for sure. If they were specifically after you, they'd have already gone to the Communication Hub or the Galaxy Warp or any places where your last report actually reached Home-world. But they haven't checked either location. Instead, they're here, It could perhaps be from a emergency signal. Honestly, it seems like you're not that important to them right now, especially after such a long silence. 

Peridot stiffens at his words, both relieved and confused. Despite her fear, she forces herself to question him for details.

Peridot: Emergency signal? 

 Lars: This is only hypothetical but perhaps when the gem warship had crashed, right as it was heading down to earth, the signal was sent back to Home-world or any star system nearby and it disappeared right at Beach City. 

Peridot despite still feeling scared would be more thinking about Lars hypothetical as she looked down as her eyes widen, she began to mumble but loud enough to where Lapis and Lars could hear.

Peridot: Gem Warships are equipped with an automatic distress beacon. It's protocol. If the ship experiences catastrophic failure, like a crash or destruction, it sends a signal to the nearest Home-world relay. It logs the last known coordinates, the status of the crew, and... Home-world would've received the alert... Earth would of been flagged for a follow-up mission.

Lar: It's probably Jasper they're after. She was the leader of the Earth mission, after all. Capturing Lapis, chasing the Crystal Gems... She's the one Home-world would expect to see reporting back but due to her absence, It would raise suspension.

As he was about to continue, Peridot was about to speak as she looked at Lars with confusion but decided to keep quiet.

Peridot: Lazuli must of told him everything she heard or else how would he know all of this...

Unknowingly to Peridot, Lapis did not explain anything to him as Lapis was just being reminded of the past as she clenched her arm, keeping control over herself as for Peridot, she was still greatly regretting doing all of those things to Lapis and felt so small cause of it being brought up.

Lars stayed quiet as he inspect the ship and hummed to himself, The ship should be harmless to him as it should only has a Gem detection only works for gem kind but for organic matter like humans so long the report stay true...

Connie: Laaaarrrrss!

Lars turns to see Connie sprinting up the hill, Steven mother's sword strapped across her back. She's just behind the fence, waving urgently. The ship, however, reacts to the noise, its scanners locking onto her location. It begins moving faster, closing the gap before she can escape its range.

Peridot, peeking out nervously from behind Lars, stiffens at the sight of Connie. She leans out just enough to glare before realization strikes.

Peridot: Is that Steven's second best friend?! What is she doing here?

Connie: Peridot?

Peridot: Move out of the area, you clod!

Connie: EEP!

The ship looms directly above Connie, its scanner enveloping her in bright light. She freezes, covering her eyes in fear. Peridot grips Lars's sleeve tightly, her expression filled with dread. Moments pass... but nothing happens. The ship moves on, uninterested. Connie is left confused but unharmed.
