The next few days blurred into a haze of questions, whispers, and tense glances. UA was buzzing with rumors, the hallways alive with speculation about the attack, the arrests, and Koda.
I avoided most of it, keeping my head down and my mouth shut—well, as much as I could. That didn't stop people from cornering me for answers.
"Come on, Midoriya," Kaminari pressed during lunch, leaning across the table. "You were there, right? Who was the guy they caught? What's Koda's deal?"
I stabbed my food with more force than necessary. "Why don't you ask the teachers? I'm sure they'd love to give you a full play-by-play."
Kaminari blinked, taken aback, and Kirishima quickly elbowed him. "Dude, let it go. Midoriya's been through enough."
"Thank you," I said, shoving a bite of food in my mouth to avoid saying more.
Across the room, Todoroki caught my eye. He gave me a small nod—silent support—but didn't approach. We both knew this wasn't over.
That night, I lay in bed staring at the ceiling, the dorm unusually quiet. Everyone else was asleep, but my mind refused to rest.
The League was still out there, and Specter—whoever she was—was still pulling strings. Koda might've been their pawn, but he wasn't the mastermind.
And I had a sinking feeling that this was just the beginning.
The faint creak of the door pulled me from my thoughts.
"Midoriya?" a soft voice whispered.
I sat up, squinting in the dim light. "Yaoyorozu?"
She stepped inside, her expression unreadable. "Can we talk?"
I nodded, motioning for her to sit.
She hesitated before speaking, her voice low. "I've been going through the reports... piecing things together. There's something off about Koda's story."
My stomach sank. "What do you mean?"
She glanced toward the door, as if checking for eavesdroppers, before leaning closer.
"I think there's someone else at UA working with the League," she whispered. "Someone who hasn't been caught yet."
My blood ran cold.
"What makes you so sure?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper.
She held up a small device—one I recognized immediately.
A League tracker.
"I found this," she said, her hands trembling. "In the greenhouse. It wasn't Koda's."
The implications hit me like a punch to the gut.
There was still a traitor.
The tracker sat heavy in my hand, its cold metal biting against my palm as I turned it over. Yaoyorozu's words hung in the air like smoke, suffocating and inescapable.
A second traitor.
"What's the range on this thing?" I asked, my voice sharp despite the late hour.
"Not far," she said, her eyes flicking to the door again. "It would need to be close to whoever they were tracking—probably within the campus."
I cursed under my breath. "They're still here."
"Which means we don't have much time," she said, her tone tight. "If the League knows we're onto them—"
"They'll move fast," I finished, gripping the tracker tighter. "We need to move faster."
The next day, the air in UA was heavy with tension. Every glance felt loaded, every word suspicious. I couldn't shake the feeling that someone was watching me.
Todoroki caught up to me in the hall. "You look worse than usual," he said flatly, falling into step beside me.
"Thanks for the pep talk, Frostbite," I muttered, tugging my hood up. "Just what I needed."
"What's going on?" he pressed. "You've been jumpy since the garden. And don't tell me it's nothing."
I hesitated, my instinct to deflect warring with the growing weight of the situation. Finally, I sighed.
"There's another mole," I said quietly. "We found evidence last night. Someone else here is working with the League."
His expression didn't change, but his pace slowed slightly. "Do you know who?"
"Not yet," I admitted. "But I have a feeling we're about to find out."
By nightfall, I was back in the greenhouse with Yaoyorozu, Todoroki, and Iida. The tracker blinked faintly in the dark, its signal growing stronger the closer we got to the center of the room.
"Whoever planted this had to have access," Yaoyorozu whispered, scanning the area. "This isn't random."
Todoroki's eyes narrowed. "They're nearby."
The sound of footsteps made us all freeze.
From the shadows, a familiar figure stepped into view.
"Koda?" Yaoyorozu breathed, her voice filled with disbelief.
But I knew immediately that something was wrong. His movements were stiff, his eyes blank—like a puppet on strings.
And then I saw her.
Specter....no it was Jiro.... but in the costume of Specter.
She stepped out from behind him, her smile sharp and venomous.
"Did you miss me, little heroes?" she purred.
My blood turned to ice.
"You," I snarled, stepping forward.
"Oh, don't look so surprised," she said, her voice mockingly sweet. "Did you really think it was over?"
She raised a hand, and Koda moved, lunging toward us with unnatural speed.
"Stop!" I yelled, dodging his attack.
"Koda, fight it!" Yaoyorozu pleaded, her voice breaking.
But he didn't stop.
Specter laughed, the sound cold and cruel. "He's mine now. Just like the others. And soon, so will you."
"Not today," I snapped, charging toward her.
She sidestepped easily, her smile never faltering. "Oh, Midoriya. Always so predictable."
But I wasn't aiming for her.
I grabbed the tracker from my pocket and slammed it into her wrist, activating its reverse signal.
"What—" she started, her smirk faltering as the device began to glow.
"It's over," I said, my voice low.
The tracker pulsed, and suddenly, Specter staggered back, her control over Koda breaking.
He collapsed, gasping for air, as she glared at me with pure hatred.
"You think this changes anything?" she spat, her voice venomous. "This isn't the end, Midoriya. Not even close."
"Maybe not," I said, stepping between her and my friends. "But it's a start."
And as the sound of approaching footsteps echoed through the greenhouse, I knew we finally had her cornered.
