Chapter 22:
Amanda's P.O.V.
Recap:
"It's no use. I already killed your father and that boy... He will be sleeping until I collect your powers."Pain shoots through my body. My spine, my head, my legs, my fingers, even my hair feels like it's being ripped off. I scream as loud as I can but it comes out as a normal mortal scream.
No!
Recap over:
'Cameron! Save me!' I scream in my mind.
I hear the door slam open and hard breaths.
"Cameron?" I turn my head to see those grey eyes that always absorb me.
He looks at the wretched woman taking my power away and runs towards me and hugs me so hard that I can feel his heart beat in harmony with mine.
"What are you doing, foolish boy!" The woman screams.
"Saving what's important to me." He says then kisses me passionately.
Some of the pain goes away but it still hurts. Cameron's body tenses up and his face twists in pain.
"See what you bring! You bring pain! You mistake! I wish you were never born! This is all your fault!" She screams.
I let go of Cameron but he still looks in pain.
'Cameron...'
I look forward to the woman and walk towards her. Every step I take feels like water going in your lungs and nose. Every breath I take feels like swallowing fire. But I keep going. She looks frightened, scared but quickly erases it from her face.
"What are you doing?!" She yells.
I don't answer but keep slowly walking towards her. I keep walking until I'm in arms length of her. I grab her shoulders and hug her.
"W-What are you d-doing!?" She asks.
"Hugging my mother." I reply.
She lowers her hands. I pull back and hold her cheeks and smile.
"Why? I just caused you so much pain and took all of your powers."
"Because of this." I say as I twist her neck in a sickening way. She doesn't make a sound when she falls. Why? Because she didn't. She just evaporated, her particles floating around my room. They look like little fireflies.
But they soon disappear.
"AJ?"
"Cameron." I say as I turn around and fall into his arms.
I don't cry.
I don't cry because I'm not sad.
But I feel somewhat... Disappointed.
"What's wrong?" He asks.
"I feel that if she hadn't died, I would love her so much."
"Why?" He asked.
"Her touch." I say. "It was... Warm and comforting, like a mother's hug should be."
He hugs me harder.
"I'm mortal now." I say. "She took each and every one of my powers."
He stands up and tries to do something with his hands.
"It's not... It's not working."
"What?" I ask.
"I'm trying to freeze your vanity."
"Try to pick me up." I say.
"Ok." He says as he grabs me. He picks me up but he strains.
"I lost all my powers too..." He mutters.
"Do you still have your conscience?" I ask.
"Actually, since you mention it, I haven't been hearing from her. What about you?"
"Same."
"I guess we're mortals." He states.
"I guess so."
End
Now... Ha.... I'm seventy-two. Cameron died a year ago. Somehow we never saw Dustin ever again. We were bullied but we were bullied together. Cameron found a stash of money in his dad's apartment. We used the money and had bought a house.
I never saw any of my previous family members before. I learned that my brother became great heroes and had children. We finished high school but we couldn't become heroes. After college, we tried having kids but then we found out that I was unable to have them.
I was depressed. But then we adopted. She was two when we adopted her and Her name was Annabella. She died when she was fourteen. She was killed in a fight between a villain and a superhero.
I decided that I didn't want kids anymore. When we were forty, Cameron and I adopted a Shepard dog, his name is Tucker. We loved him so much and had a great life. Until Cameron died.
He died because of old age. The best way to die. My wish came true. Cameron and I grew old together. Today is his birthday. I'm sitting on my bed, with Tucker, writing this book. I lost the ability to walk three years ago. So to pass the time, I decided to write a biography of my life.
When I started to read over my book, I realized, why do we have superheroes if all of us have powers?
Not everyone can be a superhero.
My name is Amanda Jones. I have a soulmate and his name is Cameron Robinson and I love him.
