The quiet between them was warm and soft, like a favorite blanket you never wanted to let go of. Jake tilted his head back to look at the stars again, their twinkling light mirrored in Minjae's bright, curious eyes.

Her fingers still rested against his, their hands lightly intertwined, and he could feel the faintest tremble in her touch. It wasn't nervous, though—it felt like the kind of excitement neither of them dared to speak out loud.

"Do you think the stars are watching us right now?" Minjae asked, her voice breaking the silence, so gentle it almost blended into the cool night air. She shifted slightly, her weight pressing against Jake's side as she leaned closer.

Jake chuckled, the sound soft and low. "Maybe," he said, glancing down at her. "Do you think they'd approve?"

Minjae's lips quirked into a shy smile, and she squeezed his hand just a little tighter. "I don't know... maybe they're jealous," she teased, her tone playful yet quiet. "They only get to shine, but we get to feel."

The words hit Jake harder than he expected, and he couldn't stop the grin that spread across his face. "That's... oddly poetic for someone who called me boring five minutes ago."

"I didn't call you boring," she protested, a laugh bubbling in her throat. She sat up just enough to meet his eyes fully, her expression soft but teasing. "I said you don't believe in wishes. Big difference."

"Well," Jake said, raising a brow as he leaned in just a fraction closer, his voice dropping to a gentle murmur, "if I did make a wish, it'd probably be for this."

Minjae blinked, her playful expression faltering for a moment, replaced by something softer—something more vulnerable. Her cheeks flushed, but she didn't look away. "You're such a smooth talker," she muttered, though her voice lacked any real bite.

Jake laughed, the sound warming the air between them. "It's not smooth if it's true," he said, his tone honest. His free hand moved slowly, tentatively brushing a strand of her hair behind her ear again. This time, his fingers lingered, his thumb lightly grazing the edge of her cheek. "You're kind of... really pretty, you know that?"

Minjae froze for a moment, her eyes wide as she stared at him. "Jake..." she started, her voice barely above a whisper.

"Sorry," he said quickly, his grin turning sheepish. "Too much?"

Her lips parted in surprise, but then she shook her head, a laugh slipping out—soft and a little breathless. "No, not too much," she said, her smile blooming into something radiant. "Just... unexpected."

Jake tilted his head, his grin turning a little more playful now. "Unexpected? Have you met yourself? You're kind of impossible not to notice, Minjae."

Minjae's cheeks turned an even deeper shade of pink, and she covered her face with her free hand. "Stop! You're going to give me a complex," she mumbled, her voice muffled by her palm.
