From the day my parents allowed us to date, it became a routine for him to pick me up for college every morning. He accompanied me to every event during the campaign. In public, we had to maintain a certain distance, but during lunch breaks, we would sneak out, eat together, and return unnoticed.
After college, we often went shopping, visited parks, beaches, restaurants, and movie theaters. Sometimes, he stayed for dinner and chatted with my family, gradually becoming closer to them.
On some nights, he would take me out for ice cream. We spent most of our time on video calls, and we even planned family trips to temples together.
Though he seemed tense at times, he never shared his work pressures with me. Occasionally, I overheard Khabir mentioning how serious he was about finding Raju Bhai. Last week, they almost caught Raju Bhai, but he escaped after killing two constables. Khabir also told me that Aadhi was going north in two days to deal with Raju Bhai personally.
I acted as though I wasn’t bothered by any of this, but inside, I was worried. The days I spent with him felt like a dream come true; every moment was memorable.
When he was stressed, he liked to sleep on my lap, and I was always there to comfort him. He cared deeply for me and never let any girl even smile at him during campaigns. His loyalty was something I admired the most, despite many girls trying to flirt with him. Sometimes, I would get possessive, but he always found a way to reassure and convince me.
The day before he left, he spoke to my parents about us getting engaged. We agreed to wait for marriage but wanted to make our relationship official. He even updated his social media status to “committed” and posted a picture of us holding hands without revealing our faces.
We received so much love and support, though some girls were visibly jealous. Everyone asked him to reveal my identity, but he refused. That night, we hosted a grand party with Khabir and his aunt’s family. I cried a lot while hugging him that night.
Under the moonlight on the terrace, I lay on his lap, and he softly kissed my forehead. He promised to end my fears and assured me that he would find Raju Bhai, bringing an end to our worries. Only after resolving this would he get engaged to me, ensuring my safety and protection.
After leaving, he informed his family about us, and they happily accepted our relationship. Both families discussed and fixed a date for our engagement.
I never imagined my life could be so happy and fulfilling.
A few weeks later, Aadhi successfully caught Raju Bhai during an undercover operation. Though his work kept him busy, he always made time for me. He often sent me gifts through Khabir and apologized sincerely whenever he broke a promise.
When he had leave, he made it a priority to visit me. He kept our relationship private, fearing his profession might bring harm to me.
With only a week left before our engagement, I felt nervous. Aadhi had been extremely busy and hadn’t met me in two weeks. Determined to surprise him, I sought Khabir’s help.
We traveled north and reached his home, where his family welcomed me warmly. We planned a candlelight dinner for him.
When he arrived and entered his room, I quietly sneaked in behind him. After his shower, as he stepped out in a towel, I hugged him from behind. He was stunned and turned around, his eyes lighting up like stars. He immediately hugged me tightly.
“I missed you so much, babe,” he whispered in a husky voice, sending chills down my spine. He rubbed his cheek against mine, grabbed my waist tightly, and pulled back to look into my eyes.
“I missed your smile, your fragrance, your softness, your hugs… I craved them the most,” he said, pressing his lips into a thin line.
“Thank you for coming, for understanding, and for putting up with me,” he smiled and hugged me again.
“Well, where’s my reward?” I asked, raising an eyebrow.
“Are you sure you want it?” he asked with a teasing intensity.
I nodded, my cheeks flushing. Without hesitation, he pushed me gently against the wall, pressing his bare chest to mine. He kissed my forehead, nose, cheeks, chin, and neck, teasingly avoiding my lips. I closed my eyes tightly, grabbing his waist in nervous anticipation.
Finally, he cupped my cheeks, looked into my eyes, and with tears streaming down his face, tucked his head into my neck.
“I can’t stay away from you anymore,” he said, his voice filled with emotion. My heart fluttered as these were the words I had longed to hear.
Later, we had a candlelight dinner and spent time with his family. That night, he showed me his room, and we discussed how we’d rearrange it after our marriage, from furniture placement to wall colors.
We joined everyone on the terrace to sleep, but he held my hand as I drifted off.
The next morning, he accompanied me to the station, as I had to return for an exam. Though he wanted to drop me home, he had an important case to handle.
After my exam, Khabir took me shopping for engagement rings with my family.
There were just two days left until the engagement. Aadhi seemed tense during our video call that evening but calmed down after talking to me.
That night, I went to bed early, but at midnight, I woke up from a nightmare. It felt as if someone was following and watching me. Panicked, I texted Aadhi, and he immediately video-called me.
As I went downstairs to grab some water, still on the call with him, I noticed something strange. My heart raced as I trembled at the sight before me. Aadhi kept asking me what had happened, but I couldn’t speak.
Let’s see what happens next! Stay tuned for the next chapter.
