You leaned against the counter with a mug of coffee in your hand, the cold wind knocked onto the window. The sound of pagers beeping, fingers tapping on the keyboard and subtle chatter mixing with Christmas music playing, taking a sip.
"Ms. L/N, can I speak to you in my office please?" Giana mentioned with a smile while knocking on your door.
It's been 3 years in the police department for you, working as a detective and police officer in Chicago. Unfortunately, there had been crazy stuff going on in your neighborhood.
You were dressed in your police officer outfit, with your box braids tied back in a bun, glowing under the fluorescent lights of the precinct.
Nodded, setting the empty mug down on the counter before following Giana into her office.
This was your current neighborhood that you lived in, it was suburban neighborhood filled with old retirees and couples but it was always quiet.
"Right behind you, boss lady," you giggled, placing your mug in the sink.
You nodded at her, following behind the woman with her dark brown skin, and pixie haircut through the hallways, Dressed in her sergeant police officer outfit.
"I'm sure you've heard of the activity going on in your neighborhood by someone named Maf Teekski?" She asked with an uneasy tone, looking through the file.
Pursing your lips, and nodding your head, you haven't heard that name since high school.
"Yeah, I remember him quite well, I hoped that he changed a bit,"
Giana leaned back in her chair, her expression grave. "Well, it seems like he's only gotten worse. The gang activity has been rising, and he's at the center of it. We need someone who knows him to help us gather intel."
You crossed your arms, leaning against the doorframe. "You want me to go back into the lion's den? That's a recipe for disaster, Giana. You want me to what? Patrol my own block like I'm some kind of damn superhero?"
"Look, I know you two have history. But you're one who can get close enough to him without raising suspicion. He trusts you," she insisted, her eyes locking onto yours.
The reason behind you and Maf Teeski's rivalry was a story of its own. Back in high school, he was the cocky kid who thought he could run the world, while you were the one who wouldn't back down from a challenge.
"Trust? Ha! I wouldn't call it that," you scoffed. "More like a lifetime of grudges and insults."
"You can use that to your advantage, I know you're the best at what you do," She exclaimed, smiling at her. Currently trying to butter her up.
