Eternity is a long time, it has to admit.

It has always been here. Waiting.

But what is it waiting for?

When it first came to be, it always knew that it had a void inside of itself. A void waiting to be filled. Something was missing.

Something was missing. And without that final piece, it could never be fulfilled.

And so it waited. And waited. And waited.

Until finally, one day, it felt it.

It felt her anger and frustration, then her fear and desperation when it finally made itself apparent to her. The final piece. Her.

(Y/n).

And once it felt her, it knew that its eternity-long wait was over.

It was lonely. But now it is not. It was cold. But now it is warm. It was dark. But now it is enlightened. It was empty. But now it is fulfilled.

It was unloved. But now it finally is. And it will keep that final piece with it, or damn the universe.

Well fellas we did it. We reached the end of the story.

Ok so I don't really know where to begin with all the extra stuff and whatnot so I'll just start at the basics:

Why did I create this fic?

Two main reasons-- ok actually three. One, I wanted to make something for Halloween bc spooky season. Two, I wanted to write some yandere eldritch content mainly for myself because there rly isn't much yan eldritch content out there. Three, I got into caves from that one Internet Historian video 'Man in Cave' and I just thought "hmmm lets make an eldritch abomination out of a cave yes good idea 10/10" so as you can clearly see, I come up with really good ideas :^)

Inspirations?

It mainly started with that Internet Historian video which inspired me to create my own creepy cave (but eldritch ofc hehe) but I did take a bit of inspo here and there like: Made in Abyss-- especially Vueko, some horror and eldritch tropes (fear of the unknown is my fave, but also once you see the unknowable you can never be the same), and this one fanfic I read during Halloween 2021 that as of right now (Feb 22 2024) I think it's best to not mention it anymore since it's a Dead Dove fic-- and I don't want to risk minors reading it esp if they don't pay enough attention to the tags and warnings.

About the Ending?

:D  Whether my fics have a happy ending or a sad one really depends on how I feel about that fic. Like if the ending makes thematic sense, or if it's satisfying in a way, or if it's just what I want for the hell of it, then that's the one I go with lmfao :D As you know, this fic has a bittersweet one. Like yeah, the Mc finally has her happily ever after, but at what cost? And is she really happy when she doesn't even have the mind to recognize it as happiness? This fic's main theme was loneliness, and being alone. In the end, the Mc does get her wish-- she's no longer alone. Even when I was planning this fic out, I knew that there wouldn't be a 'happy' ending where the Mc is saved, gets to go home and just laugh the entire experience off. It just wouldn't feel right or make that much sense, at least to me lmfao. I don't know about others but I literally won't start writing a fic unless I have a final ending planned out :D (take from that as you will for my other fics...) And besides, there's no way that they'd be able to beat an eldritch abomination hehe :P

About the Epilogue?

To put it simply, it's an open ending. Sorry if it was confusing, should've put that;; The human form that Irina sees could simply be the eldritch abomination taking on a human form just to fuck with her, or maybe it did take on a human form for real, or maybe that was its true form all along, or even a ghostly hallucination from her trauma. Anything. My original plan was to make it take on the form of the Mc's ideal so what Irina sees is Mc's ideal human partner, so the appearance depends on you, the reader-- and if you chose to make it look like Irina, then that would be even more fucked up. Imagine that, Irina seeing a carbon-copy of herself. Freaky. I'm not opposed to eldritch beings temporarily taking on a human form, I actually like it lmfao. But yeah, it's an open ending, different interpretations and stuff is allowed :) (or if you just want to ignore the epilogue that's also fine lmfaoooo)

About the Characters? (added Nov 2)

Irina-- is Mc's closest friend. I'm really happy that so many of you liked her character and cheered for her! I wondered whether to make her actually romantically interested in Mc because she did say that she loves Mc but I decided to leave that up to the reader hehe ;) Also whether the Mc likes her romantically or platonically is also up to you! She really does go on her own journey like Mc, and I think all of those days of not sleeping and just constantly worrying about Mc took its toll on her and affected her.  She lost herself too, in the morality sense and how she just becomes a haunted shell of who she once was due to trauma, grief, and endless guilt.

Jonas-- lmfao where to begin. He pretended to care about saving Mc just to be on Irina's good side for social clout. In the beginning it was kinda hinted that he really doesn't care about others.

Seamus-- Literally just the embodiment of that one meme of the british guy angrily yelling at the camera lmfao.

Cheska-- One of my favorite characters actually!!

Luis-- Another one of my favorites!!

Hana-- Just a simp for Irina.

I like how Cheska and Luis are the only ones (aside from Irina) to survive bc they just don't accept any freaky eldritch bullshit lol. Would probably survive a horror slasher movie too

The title of this fic is based on the song 'And Then is Heard No More' by a band named Mili. In fact, all of those little things about "Do the candles look forward to being used?"; "If someone who had every intention to be brave was a coward?"; "If I went with you will there be happily-ever-afters?" and more are lyrics from the song! This is my grave and I'm rolling in it (+ a bunch of other song refs in my fic heheh)
I made a song playlist for this! It's always been in the bottom footnotes but here it is too! Song Playlist-- it's basically just the titular song (And Then is Heard No More by Mili), the BotW divine beast ost, the Saya no Uta ost, and extras but yeah!
Fun fact, the horror story Mc was telling in Act 1 at the campfire was what my friend told me (which was based on the song Cabinet Man by a band named Lemon Demon) and now that I think about it, it lowkey foreshadows Mc's fate (going insane, connecting organs and stuff to a system, nobody knows what happened to her) sooooo I totally meant for that to happen yup all intentional :D
Fun fact, during the final act when hallucination-Hana tells Mc to find the eight red coins and the star will appear, it's a reference to Super Mario 64 :)
I'm just adding more stuff to get the overall book length to that sweet 100 page :)
uhhh I think that's it. Just to reiterate, thank you all so much for reading this story! It really means so much to me and it was a really pleasant surprise to see just how many of you like eldritch horror in yandere fics lmao :D Maybe one year, I'll make another yan eldritch horror oneshot, but for Valentine's day, and another type of eldritch abomination hahahaha.
