This song is forever on my mind

─── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ──

The soft padding of the kitten’s tiny paws echoed faintly as Y/N descended the grand staircase. Her slightly damp hair clung to her back, and a few strands brushed against her shoulders, catching the golden morning light. She wore a light yellow full-sleeved dress that clung to her petite frame, simple yet elegant. Her steps were cautious, her gaze flickering down as she reached the last step, the kitten faithfully trailing behind her.

In the living room, Mrs. Jeon sat on a plush armchair, sipping her morning tea, her posture poised and elegant. When she noticed Y/N approaching, a warm smile spread across her face.

“Good morning, Y/N,” Mrs. Jeon greeted gently, her voice soothing like a melody.

“Good morning, Mrs. Jeon,” Y/N replied softly, her fingers clutching the folds of her dress nervously.

“Come, dear, sit with me,” Mrs. Jeon said, patting the seat beside her.

Y/N hesitated for a moment before taking a seat, the kitten settling near her feet. She folded her hands neatly in her lap, feeling a little shy under the older woman’s gaze.

Mrs. Jeon’s smile deepened. “I heard Taehyung took you to a party yesterday,” she said conversationally, her tone light but curious.

Y/N’s cheeks tinged with a soft pink as she nodded. “Yes... he did.”

“And? Did you enjoy yourself?” Mrs. Jeon probed, her eyes twinkling.

Y/N hesitated before offering a small smile. “I did. It was... different. But Jin and his family were really kind, and Soo-ah was very sweet. She made me feel comfortable.”

Mrs. Jeon chuckled softly. “Ah, Soo-ah is a darling, isn’t she? I’m glad you had a good time. It’s important to step out and experience things now and then.” She leaned forward slightly, her expression more earnest. “I know adjusting here hasn’t been easy for you, but if there’s anything you ever need or want, you must let me know.”

Y/N blinked, her heart warming at the unexpected kindness. “Thank you, Mrs. Jeon. Everyone has been so welcoming. I’ll try to... let you know if I need anything.”

Mrs. Jeon reached out, placing a comforting hand over Y/N’s. “There’s no need for formalities, dear. Why don’t you call me Aunt Mina instead? It feels more personal, don’t you think?”

Y/N’s eyes widened slightly, taken aback by the suggestion. “A-Aunt Mina?” she repeated softly, the words unfamiliar on her tongue.

Mrs. Jeon’s laughter was light, almost musical. “Yes. You’re part of the family now, Y/N. Calling me Mrs. Jeon makes me feel old!”

A shy smile tugged at Y/N’s lips. “Okay... Aunt Mina,” she murmured, her voice carrying a hint of warmth.

“Much better!” Mina declared, pleased. She leaned back in her chair, taking another sip of her tea. “Now, since Grandfather isn’t home today, why don’t we do something fun? We could go shopping, or anywhere you’d like. You’ve been spending too much time indoors.”

“Oh, I don’t want to trouble you,” Y/N said quickly, shaking her head. “You must have so much to do—”

“Nonsense!” Mina interrupted, waving a hand dismissively. “Spending time with you would be a pleasure. Besides, it’s been too long since I indulged in a good shopping trip. What do you say?”
