"Draco..."
Her tone was sympathetic. Draco shuddered.
"He'll kill me if I don't do what he says. He'll kill me in the most painful ways possible."
He had dropped to his knees before her, cowering in fear as he clung to her skirt. Emerald placed a green tinted hand on his head.
"My dear," She spoke softly. "I won't let that happen." "How?" She sunk to the ground, level with him now.
"You're forgetting something." She said lowly. "I am my mother's daughter." "So?" "I have her shoes." "And?"
"Draco we could leave this place. We could leave this place and never come back." "He'll find me."
"I don't think so." Emerald shook her head. "Not if we return to Oz." She said. "You would be safe, my dear. You would be safe with me."
Draco looked at her. His silver eyes glistened with amazement as he took in the sight of her for a moment and pondered the idea of being free, free from voldemort and his hold on his family and most sickeningly, on himself.
He could be free from it all. But could he really?
He would be leaving behind everything he ever knew just to run off with some girl.
His family.
What would his mother think? What would his father say?
Nothing good, that was for sure. He shook his head.
"No." He said slowly. "I can't... I can't do that." "But why not?" Emerald asked, her shoulders slumped in disappointment.
"I can't just leave. I'm in too deep." he took in a shaky breath before looking up to meet her gaze.
"I am damned, Emerald, I am a damned man."

"Damned or not,"
Emerald said as she cupped his face with her hands, "As long as I'm around no one is laying a finger on you." "You mean that?" Draco raised a brow. He was so used to people throwing threats his way.
