Jake

My name is Jake. I work for the mysterious benefactor.

I'm a loyal servant. I do whatever is needed.

Whenever the boss gets mad, I ask him what he needs me to do, then I do it. I can take anything thrown at me.

I never get tired, I never grow old, and I never wander away.

The mysterious benefactor first enlisted my services when he helped me get out of the hospital.

My friends were flabbergasted when I told them. I said I have no regrets. He did everything for me.

It's time to repay him in kind.

Adam

The mysterious benefactor. They call him Mr. Jacobson. He works for the government.

His business is something involving private intelligence. Knowing things about organisations and people.

My business was similar enough. I worked in security, whereas James worked in private investigations. Our work overlapped enough for me to understand him and him to understand me.

This benefactor needs to cool his shit, however, because I'm getting quite tired of it.

James

Adam's not really talking to me often.

I think his new business associate might have something to do with it.

Meanwhile, I still want to know what happened to that cow.

Jake

We got a new assignment, Adam and I. We need to infiltrate an organisation named Valhalla Dynamix.

Apparently they have something of value we might need.

Adam's reluctant about breaking the law. I told him that we owe it to our mysterious benefactor.

Adam

Jake and I decided that it was best to go at night.

Under the cover of darkness.

What you had to know about Valhalla Dynamix was that it was a strange facility.

On the one hand, well-guarded. On the other hand, easier to bypass than the clasp of double D bra.

Jake didn't like that metaphor.

The security on the lower levels were underpaid, as was common in their industry. So handing them a bit extra to look the other way was standard practice.

They didn't let you steal too much, and you always had to share what you stole. Don't get caught, was the only rule, and stealing anything too obvious or without thinking your cover story through was absolutely anathema.

Valhalla Dynamix bought out an entire twenty-story building, a brutalist design with billowing edges to mark its many stories, beneath its many windows. All of the windows had industrial level security shutters, which were kept close during the day on all floors. I don't think the most important work happened on every single level, but it would be dumb to simply hide some windows from prying eyes, to make it more obvious which ones contained the valuable secrets.

The mysterious benefactor informed us that we would be stealing a secret soon, and we would be doing so by heading through the tunnels underground.

Jake and I got into the car, and took the long route to get to the road that leads to the tunnels.
