The morning sun cast a pale glow over the sprawling landscape of Tezpur, where lush green plains met the distant silhouettes of the Himalayas. Inside the clandestine operations center concealed beneath an unassuming warehouse, Major Vihaan Singh Shergill stood before a vast digital display. The room hummed with the low buzz of computers and whispered conversations, a stark contrast to the tension saturating the air.
"All teams are in position," Lieutenant Aisha Khan reported, her eyes glued to the streams of data cascading down her monitor. Her fingers danced across the keyboard as she navigated through layers of encrypted networks. "We've tapped into the last known communication nodes used by the hostiles, but deciphering their encryption is proving more challenging than anticipated."
Vihaan nodded, his gaze intense. "We don't have the luxury of time. Every second we waste is an advantage for them. What's our progress on locating the source?"
Aisha sighed, pushing a stray strand of hair behind her ear. "Their encryption algorithms are... sophisticated. This isn't the work of ordinary insurgents. I suspect external expertise."
"Perhaps state-sponsored," Vihaan mused, rubbing his chin thoughtfully. "What about our assets on the ground?"
Captain Rohan Mehra, the team's tactical specialist, stepped forward. "Our undercover operatives have identified increased movement near the Ngopa sector. Unmarked vehicles, high-frequency radio transmissions, and an influx of personnel who don't fit the local profiles."
Vihaan's eyes narrowed. "Ngopa... that's perilously close to the border. If they're establishing a foothold there, we need eyes on the ground immediately."
At that moment, Flight Lieutenant Seerat Kaur entered the room, a file tucked under her arm. Her demeanor was brisk, but her eyes conveyed urgency. "We've got a break," she announced, placing the file on the table. "During my last flight, we intercepted a fragment of their communication. It's incomplete, but it mentions a meeting at a place called 'Shadow Point.'"
"Shadow Point?" Vihaan echoed, flipping through the file. "I've never heard of it."
"Neither had I," Seerat admitted. "But after cross-referencing terrain maps and local intel, I believe it's a codename for a location deep within the Sundarbans' dense mangrove forests. An ideal place for clandestine activities."
Rohan leaned over the map, tracing a path with his finger. "That area's a labyrinth. Thick vegetation, treacherous waterways, and plenty of places to hide."
"Which is exactly why they chose it," Vihaan concluded. "They think they can operate undetected."
Aisha interjected, "If we can infiltrate Shadow Point, we might uncover the extent of their operations and possibly identify the mole leaking information."
Vihaan made a swift decision. "Alright, we move out tonight. Aisha, secure satellite surveillance over the Sundarbans. Rohan, assemble a strike team versed in jungle warfare. Seerat, we'll need aerial reconnaissance support."
"I'll prep the chopper," Seerat affirmed. "But flying low over the Sundarbans is risky. The foliage is thick, and the enemy might have anti-aircraft capabilities."
"We'll have to take that chance," Vihaan replied. "Our window of opportunity is closing."
As night enveloped the landscape, the team assembled at a remote helipad. The air was thick with humidity, and the distant call of nocturnal creatures set an eerie backdrop. A sleek black helicopter stood ready, rotors silently churning.
Vihaan briefed the team one last time. "Our mission is to infiltrate Shadow Point, gather intelligence on their operations, and get out unseen. Engagement is a last resort. We can't afford to tip them off."
