The city was set aflame and the walls were crumbling. Under the dusty grey skies, not even the sun could bear witness to the massacre beneath it. Screams echoed through the streets once filled with life, slowly and brutally snuffed out by mechanical roars, gunfire, and explosions.

The city's self automated defense system has turned against the hundreds of thousands of people they were designed to protect. The proud walls that stood over fifteen meters tall and nearly ten meters thick had been breached, allowing the mutated creatures of the wastelands that were kept at bay to flood into the city and tear its people to shreds. Carnage had spread to every inch of the massive city in a mere hour and what was just a normal day of trading and bartering had turned into a horrific mark etched permanently into the history of the city.

If there was still a city left to remember this day by the end of it.

And at a single table on top of the tallest building in this falling city overlooking what was once a thriving hotspot for trade, two men sit as though oblivious to the carnage around them.

The man with black hair sat with an empty expression, merely staring at someone else unblinkingly. With dark red hair, black tips, and a perpetual smile, that man sat across from him, sipping a cup of tea with one leg crossed over the other.

Both appeared apathetic to the chaos around them.

"Thank you for coming, Silas." The scientist spoke.

"Well, it's not every day my right hand calls me for something 'important.'" The employer chuckles briefly, completely ignoring the sounds of sirens blaring and the dying cries of the city. "So! What exactly is so important that you had me trek alllllll the way here to this...once lovely city?"

The city was perfectly fine when he arrived at the walls two hours ago. So hearing the noisy rabble now and glancing at the burning streets down below, he was impressed at the amount of carnage the man across from him could cause in such a short amount of time. He can't say he was unfamiliar with the destruction the man often brought around him however, he practically grew alongside this man made weapon after all.

Though nothing could prepare him for what his old friend would say next.

"I wanted you to know that I've fallen in love."

The employer's fox like eyes widen momentarily, exposing the polished ruby orbs hiding behind his eyelids for just a second. Silas takes a small sip of his tea and quickly fixes his expression.

"Going and falling in love with a girl behind my back without telling me. This isn't quite what I was expecting when I told you to try something new..." He chuckles to himself.

"What were you expecting then when you instructed me to form my group?" The scientist asks, curious about the motive that started it all.

His employer was playful by nature, but a businessman at heart. Even if Silas' actions appeared frivolous there was always a secret agenda usually only he would know of.

So it was natural for the employee to be suspicious of the answer he received.

"Nothing at all really, it was just another whim of mine." He shrugs with a mischievous tone laced in his voice. "But on a far more important note, just what could make the infallible right hand of the Corporation fall head over heels for her?"

Though Silas' words were far from an order, the man he considers a friend took it as such. Thus, pushed by the loyalty ingrained within him for decades he answers without hesitation despite the embarrassment.

"She's vastly different from me. Honest. Compassionate. Almost to a fault on some days."

Silas' eyebrows raised at the serious answer and the bashful side that emerged. He hadn't known the man across from him could even make such an expression so he remained silent and let him continue.
