"Soooo I'm thinking we hit up the SoHo House in West Hollywood since it's officially your last night in Cali." Qiara said as we grabbed our things.
"Is that where the bougie, stuck up people be at? If so then it's a hard pass for me, sis." Qiara rolled her eyes and I laughed.
"Okay so how about this. We go to a rooftop bar for a live performance, some drinks, food, and maybe some fine rich men." I thought for a moment and smiled.
"You know what...hell yeah." Qiara laughed loudly in turn making me laugh as well.
"Yessss okay you wanna meet there orrrr?"
"Mr.Jackie and I will pick you up aroundddd 8?"
"Sounds great! See you then." We went our separate ways and I was off to the hotel to shower and get ready.
At 7:50 pm, I was outside of Qiara's home waiting for her to come out.
"You look expensive!!" Qiara said as she climbed into the backseat with me.
"Why thank you!" I said with a smile and she laughed. "Okay so what's the plan tonight? What happens when you find a man?"
"When WE find a man, we will reconvene and talk about it when it happens."
"Girl, what do I look like finding a boo my last night in LA?"
"I didn't say we were finding our husbandsssss." Qiara said and I laughed loudly.
"Ohhhhh I see what you mean. Well you do your thing and Imma do mine."
"Which is?"
"Find somebody willing to pay for our drinks and food." I shrugged and she laughed.
We continued to talk and laugh until we arrived at our destination.
"Ou girl look." Qiara tapped me and pointed towards two men.
"Well don't point." I whispered as we made our way to the bar.
"Hello beautiful, what can I get you?" The bartender asked. I smiled and lightly leaned onto the counter.
"Can we have two shots of tequila please?" I said and he nodded his head. "How much?"
"It's on me." He winked with a smile and Qiara nudged me. He handed us our shots.
"Thank you." I said and I turned towards Qiara. "To us being black, sexy, and successful."
"I know that's right!" We laughed and hit our glasses together before taking the shot.
"Alright let's go sit and order some food. You know i'm a lightweight." I said and she laughed.
The night was full of laughter, food, a little gossip, and pure joy. Qiara and I met the first year I started as an art conservator and have been close ever since.
