Hello, this is a book I wrote 2 years ago. I was publishing it in Turkish. Now I want to publish it in English. Before I start the book, this series will be 8 books. I hope you like it.
Enjoy reading!
Song: Carol of the Belss
Time: The Most Precious Thing in This Universe.
Time is the most valuable thing in this universe. You cannot stop it, nor can you take it back. I believe you must have read books or watched movies about time as well. Time-travel movies often talk about time travelers. Yes, our main idea touches upon this too: The Time Travelers...
As Told by Layla
I'm Layla Peters, 16 years old. Tomorrow is my first day at my new school. We moved to London because of my dad's job. The last time I was here, I was four years old.
But we never used to come to this part of London. I'm not an only child; I have an older brother named Sam. I also have severe insomnia.
Doctors can't cure me. We've knocked on every doctor's door, but they see me as a hopeless case. Since I was little, I've been keeping a journal. I opened my nightstand drawer and took out my pink journal.
I flipped through the pages, found a blank one, and started writing:
"Dear diary, hello. To be honest, today went quite well. Tomorrow is my first day at my new school. I'll try to make new friends tomorrow. Hopefully, I will. You know me, I'm very friendly. Anyway, I'll write to you again tomorrow. See you."
I finished writing, put the journal back in the drawer, turned off the lamp beside my bed, and tried to sleep.
2:30 AM
I was in a forest, wearing a white dress. I was running. I didn't stop. But for a moment, I froze. I was at the edge of a cliff. One more step, and I'd fall. It felt like something was pulling me toward the edge, but I resisted.
Still, it caught me. I let myself go and fell into the void, screaming. I woke up yelling, "Ahhh!"
I was drenched in sweat, gasping for breath. I grabbed the water on my nightstand and drank it. It helped a little. But I didn't care anymore. These nightmares happened every night.
As much as I didn't want to, I had to sleep. I laid my head back on the pillow, slowly closed my eyes, and drifted into a deep sleep.
8:00 AM
The sound of my alarm woke me up. Sunlight entered my room through the mirror, gently caressing everything. It was school day. I needed to get up.
I got out of bed gently, put on my slippers, and headed to the bathroom. First, I washed my face. Then, I brushed my teeth.
Looking in the mirror, I noticed how tired I looked. The dark circles under my eyes were prominent. I dried my face and left the bathroom. On my way out, I noticed my brother's room-he was still asleep.
A mischievous plan formed in my mind. "Let's give him a wake-up service," I thought.
I quietly approached his room and knocked softly on the door. I knocked again. No answer. So, I barged in and shouted.
Sam woke up, startled and a bit scared. "What are you doing, Layla? Who wakes people up like this?!" he asked angrily.
"Reminder, bro: today's school. Get up, get up!" I said, heading toward the door. Just as I was leaving, he threw a pillow at me.
"Bullseye," he said, grinning.
"What are you doing, Sam?!" I exclaimed. But I saw it coming. I threw the pillow back at him and ran out of the room.
