Gwen hesitated, her brow furrowing. "She... hasn't."
"And what have you told him, then?"
"A little—"
Hobie raised a brow, skeptical.
Before the conversation could go further, Miles glitched behind them, his body trembling as he fell to his knees.
"Maybe not enough," Hobie muttered under his breath.
Jess, ever prepared, tossed a device in Miles' direction. He caught it instinctively, eyes wide. "My own watch!" he gasped in excitement.
"It's a day pass," Jess corrected. "It just keeps you from—"
Before she could finish, Miles glitched violently again. The wristband activated automatically, stabilizing him in an instant.
"—doing that," Jess finished dryly.
Walking through the busting hallways of the Spider Society, everyone greeted Gwen with nods and smiles. Miles, however, received none of the same attention. Determined to fit in, he attempted to introduce himself to a group of Peters passing by.
Before he could finish, a voice cut though.
"Peter Parkedcar!" called Spider-Maiden, her tone sharp yet casual.
The buggy rolled up, headlights flashing as it honked in response. "Take a team to the transport deck. Start cleaning up this Spot situation," she ordered with authority.
Peter Parkedcar honked enthusiastically before four other Spiders jumped into the car, and it zoomed off down the hall.
"Nice call," Jess noted with an approving nod.
The younger Spider shugged, brushing it off. "Just doing my job."
Miles took this as his chance. Stepping toward the Spider holding the tablet, he said with a nervous yet confident tone, "I—I wouldn't call it a mess, though. More like... a success in progress."
Y/n turned to face him, her expression unreadable. After a moment, her lips curled into a faint smirk, her sarcasm dripping as she replied, "You're funny. Has anyone ever told you that?"
Miles straightened his posture, tilting his head proudly. "Well, as a matter of fact, yeah. My girlfriend tells me all the time."
"Oh, yeah?" she quirked a brow, clearly unimpressed. "Some random chick?"
"No," he replied, pointing at her as if to make a point. "She uh... she actually looks a lot like you."
"A Y/n, huh?" She scoffed slightly, her smirk growing wider. "Not surprised."
"What's that supposed to mean?" Miles demanded, flustered.
Before the conversation could escalate further, Jess called out to another Spider standing by a pillar. "Ben, I need—"
"Sorry," Ben Reilly, Scarlet Spider, cut her off with a dramatic sigh. Some sort of emo vibe going around. "I can't talk right now. I'm thinking about my past."
"Actually we need you here for some reason."
Another exaggerated groan escaped Ben as he dragged himself away from the pillar. "Fine. But for the record, that was a particularly harrowing memory."
After that concerning scene and a horse introduction, the crew moved on past several dozen containment fields, each restraining a weird variation of a classic villain. "Who is in these... laser cages?"
"Anomalies!" LYLA informed him, appearing on his shoulder and glitching around. "Folks who wound up in the wrong dimension."
"We kick their butts and send them home," Jess added.
