Like a caged bird,

the peaceful melody fails to

reach the sky in search of light.

Wings anchoring your back

this was your ticket.

your lifeline to higher ground.

The melody despite being trapped,

the bird still sings.

Soft sounds too loud growls for freedom.

On the tightrope, the bird no longer lives clustered.

Supernova

Liberation and delectation is near.

But is your space diluted or refined?

"Everyone, can we limit conversations please. Thank you. Ahh, on behalf of the committee we would like to thank you for attending this conference. I appreciate the knowledge you may have received or connections during your time here. We know you all have anywhere else you'd rather be. News Flash... Us too." This causes the room to release a brief laugh and murmur. "However, I would like to continue schedule. This afternoon we are inviting, an extraordinary, talented and intelligent student, mentor, and future leader to speak. One whom I believe wholeheartedly, is far beyond her years. I had the honor of speaking with her shortly before we resumed today, and well-" Dr. Johnson stopped to cast a glance around the room. "I won't say much more, but I strongly urge everyone to read her essay. Even if you don't agree, listen to understand, not to retaliate. It's her story, and you have YOURS!" Dr. Johnson finished with finger point. Clasping her hands and grinning, "Please give a warm welcome to Ms. Devyn Kelley." She finished causing the room to abrupt into an applause.

"...Here you go" Kamala whispered with a nudge and smile.

"I hate you." Devyn whispered back with a chuckle. Taking a deep breath, Devyn stood making her way to the podium; it seemed like Kamala's observation was astute. Devyn did command attention, but not with arrogance. She was confident yet aware. She smiled even when she wasn't met with the same greeting. She was a puzzle, a game of Mystery. It was solitude she exuded. It is Passion.

Kamala stared into the head in front of her; lost in deep thought. What was she missing? Why was it passion? Was it because Devyn was open about her past and who she is? Why did Kamala yearn to know more. Her thoughts where flushed when she heard Devyn's heels come to a stop. Realizing Devyn was exchanging pleasantries, Kamala straightened her posture to receive full view. She was intrigued on what Devyn had to say, even if she would ask for a detailed explanation later. She wanted to know every thought that ran, every emotion she felt; wrapped in the bundle of love.

Taking a final moment as the applause began to settle, she admired how Devyn's cream-colored blazer hugged her back, falling just above her waist. Covering a midnight blue Tommy Hilfiger business casual dress, Devyn's jewelry shined with a matching pearl set. The brooch gracing the left lapel; a Lotus trimmed along the edges in diamond. Kamala smiled subconsciously, not caring if anyone was watching as she continued admiring the appearance of Devyn.

Kamala found herself inching up in her seat, anticipating the search for Devyn's eyes. The intoxicating fragrance of jasmine and Bulgarian Rose. CoCo by Chanel, as if Devyn was still next to her. Her hair straightened at the roots, with the ends favoring a loose curl. Mid-length with a mesmerizing glow of sandy brown streaks under the lights.

Devyn have finished her greetings, half smiled as an unfamiliar feeling crept up. A smile that didn't reach her eyes, as she turned facing the podium. Placing her essay on the stand she thanked everyone for their applause. Searching the room, Devyn attempted to push the thoughts of panic out.
