It's Time

STILL Monday, September 1, 2014

*RIKER'S P.O.V.*

Katie returned 20 minutes after she left. She walked in flustered, and she looked nervous. I immediately rushed up to her and so did Ross.

"Katie what happened?" I asked worriedly. She looked up at me solemnly.

"We need to talk. Everyone in the basement. Lock all doors and windows in the house. Nobody else can hear this." Katie practically whispered.

Ross and I got everyone into the basement and proceeded to lock every door and window in the house. The we entered the basement and locked it.

"Okay," Katie started, " this is going to be shocking. Just listen and let me finish."

She mumbled something and took a deep breath. "You know how I go to a different camp one week every year during summer. And how it started four years ago? So I've gone to four different camps." Everyone nodded.

She continued. "Well it was only one camp. A camp where I learn different spy skills in different departments. I've been training for the Secret Service. I only have one purpose, to take down an enemy operative, then I don't have to continue. I'm only doing this one because of my mom. She said I would complete one mission and I could 'retire.' So I'm training."

There was silence. Ryland broke it. "So you lied to us. Are you even our friend?" He looked hurt. I stayed silent.

"No!" She responded, "I-I-I just didn't tell you guys because I didn't want to put you in danger. I'm still the same me I was yesterday!"

"I believe you," I said. "Me too's" were tossed around the room. All but Ross had spoken up.

He looked her in the eyes and said, "I believe you, Katie."

I whispered to her, "Promise me you won't ever change. And that you haven't already."

She smiled. "I haven't and I won't." She assured. "I promise."
