PART 24

Soonyoung sat in a café booth, nervously stirring his iced coffee until the ice cubes were reduced to slivers. Across from him sat the three self-proclaimed “love gurus”: Jeonghan, Jisoo, and Seungcheol.

Jeonghan had an air of smug confidence as he dramatically adjusted his scarf (despite it being summer). Jisoo looked disturbingly serene, like a monk with access to everyone’s secrets. And Seungcheol? He looked ready to lead—or at least pretend to.

“So,” Jeonghan began, leaning forward with a sly grin. “You’ve finally decided to admit you’re hopeless in love.”

“I wouldn’t put it like that!” Soonyoung protested, flustered.

“Don’t lie to yourself,” Jisoo said softly, sipping his tea like a wise sage. “Denial is the first step toward failure.”

Seungcheol, trying to appear leaderly, clapped Soonyoung on the shoulder. “Don’t worry, we’ve got this! You’ll have Jihoon wrapped around your finger in no time.”

Soonyoung blinked. “You say that like you have experience.”

Jeonghan’s grin widened. “Oh, trust me. He doesn’t.”

“Jeonghan!” Seungcheol snapped, turning red.

Jisoo tilted his head innocently. “Well, it is true. How long have you been pining after Jeonghan?”

The café fell silent. Jeonghan’s smug grin was now accompanied by a raised eyebrow, while Seungcheol sat frozen, like a deer caught in headlights.

Soonyoung gasped, eyes darting between them. “Wait, what? You like Jeonghan?”

“I—That’s—This isn’t about me!” Seungcheol stammered, his face turning an alarming shade of crimson.

Jeonghan’s evil twin side came to life as he leaned back in his chair, feigning surprise. “Oh? You mean you’re not madly in love with me? Because last week, you—”

“JEONGHAN!” Seungcheol yelped, cutting him off.

Jisoo smirked, casually swirling his tea. “He’s just shy, Soonyoung. It’s kind of adorable, really. He leaves little sticky notes for Jeonghan with motivational quotes... signed with a heart.”

Soonyoung burst out laughing, clutching his stomach. “Are you serious?!”

Jeonghan was clearly enjoying the chaos. “Oh, I’ve got one of them right here.” He reached into his bag and pulled out a sticky note, holding it up like a trophy.

It read: “You’re the brightest star in my sky. Keep shining. – S <3”

Seungcheol lunged for it, knocking over his iced Americano in the process. The table erupted in pandemonium, with Jeonghan cackling, Jisoo calmly moving his tea out of the splash zone, and Soonyoung practically crying with laughter.

Once Seungcheol had mopped up the mess and stopped hyperventilating, they turned back to Soonyoung.

Jeonghan tapped his chin thoughtfully. “Now, about Jihoon. You need to be subtle but persistent. Compliment him in ways that make him think about you later. Plant the seed.”

“Like what?” Soonyoung asked, intrigued.

Jeonghan smirked. “Oh, I don’t know. Something like, ‘Your music isn’t just good—it’s life-changing. But not as life-changing as your face.’”

Soonyoung blinked. “That’s subtle?”

“Compared to Seungcheol’s love notes? Absolutely,” Jisoo deadpanned, earning another glare from Seungcheol.

Seungcheol crossed his arms, still red-faced. “Ignore them, Soonyoung. Honesty is the best policy. Just tell Jihoon how you feel—straightforward, no games.”

“Oh, yes, because that’s worked so well for you,” Jeonghan said, smirking.

“SHUT UP, JEONGHAN!”

Jisoo, the other evil twin, leaned in conspiratorially. “Honestly, though, if you want to go the direct route, you could always use Seungcheol’s sticky-note strategy. Worked wonders for Jeonghan.”

“It didn’t—he didn’t—” Seungcheol sputtered, waving his arms like a malfunctioning windmill.

Jeonghan sighed dramatically. “It’s true. I’ve been so wooed by the endless stream of hearts and motivational quotes. Why, just yesterday, I almost fainted from the sheer romance.”

“YOU’RE MAKING THIS UP!” Seungcheol yelled, burying his face in his hands.

After thoroughly embarrassing Seungcheol (and having zero regrets about it), the trio devised a plan for Soonyoung.

“Here’s what you do,” Jeonghan said. “Compliment Jihoon’s music. Then casually mention how amazing he looks when he’s focused. That’s the bait.”

“And if that doesn’t work, stalk him—strategically,” Jisoo added.

“That’s not stalking,” Soonyoung mumbled.

“It’s romantic observation,” Jisoo corrected.

“And if that doesn’t work?” Soonyoung asked hesitantly.

Jeonghan smirked. “Then you resort to Seungcheol’s approach: write him a love letter and wait for him to figure it out.”

“I AM RIGHT HERE!” Seungcheol yelled, throwing his hands up.

Soonyoung nodded thoughtfully, standing up with newfound determination. “Alright. I’ll try Jeonghan’s plan first.”

“Excellent choice,” Jeonghan said, tossing his scarf over his shoulder like a true villain.

As Soonyoung left the café, Jisoo turned to Jeonghan. “You think this will actually work?”

Jeonghan grinned, his eyes glinting mischievously. “If it doesn’t, at least we got to ruin Seungcheol’s dignity. That’s a win win in my book.”

Seungcheol groaned, slumping in his chair. “I hate both of you.”

“Love you too,” Jeonghan and Jisoo chorused in unison, looking entirely unapologetic.
