Maggie had lied to Regulus and Jackie, and didn't regret it one bit. She was out on serious business, you see, Maggie had a secret — she knew where Mary Macdonald was. When she'd said that she wouldn't be keeping that much contact with her blood parents, she'd kind of lied — she saw the news in the Daily Prophet, 'The Salazars Stay United'. Dalaris spoke of supporting her daughter, The Phoenix, she made sure to mention. They hadn't gone public with their support for Voldemort before, so she didn't imagine there was much of a backlash, but she knew it was risky to pull a move like that amongst other purebloods. Maggie also got to know just how much influence the Salazar name carried because the Order got requests, a lot of them.
People offering to be moles, spies, anything to get them a place at the winning team now that the tables were turning. Maggie had started talking to them more, out of obligation — she did feel a little guilty that she'd asked them to do such a thing for her, and then didn't give them anything in return. It wasn't anything big, really, just small talk. She would let them fuss over her, tell her how she needed to stay out of missions because she was the only future living heir of their family, she needed to dress more warmly, and how she should spend a bit more money on herself — get more facials, her mother said. Maggie, in return, got to ask them for information, about her magic, and also maybe about hiring a private investigator who could look into where to find a certain someone called Mary Macdonald.
Muggle London, Maggie should've known. She got out of the secret passage and imagined a specific spot in London, somewhere she'd been before with Sirius. That muggle restaurant, he took Remus and Maggie out for lunch there. Maggie closed her eyes, and then she felt herself getting sick, crack, and there. She apparated. Maggie took a taxi to the address in hand, and got met with the sight of an apartment building that did not look like it should be standing. It was old, grimy, and looked like it could get taken out by a strong gust of wind on a random Thursday.
Maggie looked for a doorbell, or something. There wasn't anything there, so Maggie just entered the building and looked for Mary's apartment door. 608. Maggie raised her knuckles and knocked, one, two... one, two, three. Mary's voice came in from inside the apartment, 'COMING!' and soon Maggie's met with the sight of a disheveled Mary, hair in a messy bun, her eyeliner smudged, and lipstick half applied on her lips that were pulled into a smile, it fell apart the moment she saw Maggie.
