Chapter 6: Faye's Pov

The sun peeked through the curtains as Professor Faye Lloyd stirred from her sleep. Her apartment was minimalist, neat and organized, just as she liked it. She tied her hair into a loose bun, washed up, and got started on her morning routine. Her coffee machine hummed as she prepared a quick breakfast-a slice of toast with avocado and a boiled egg.

She drove her car to the university, navigating Bangkok's bustling streets. As she parked and walked toward her office, her mind replayed the events of the previous night.

She saw Ren Marcus Cullen at a hotel lobby. Ren, dressed in a stunning gown, was checking in alone. The image of the young woman, so striking yet so distant, lingered in her thoughts.

Why would a 20-year-old check into a hotel when she has a dorm? Faye questioned herself, feeling an unsettling curiosity. The contrast between Ren's confident demeanor and the vulnerability she occasionally glimpsed made Faye feel both intrigued and troubled.

As Faye reached her office, she sat down and leaned back in her chair. The burn on her side still stung, reminding her of the incident in the nurse's room. She straightened her posture with a soft sigh, her thoughts drifting again to Ren and the unexpected moments they'd shared.

A knock on the door interrupted her reverie.

"Come in," Faye said.

It was Professor Luke, looking slightly flustered. "I have an urgent matter to attend to. I won't be able to make it to the meeting with the dean. Could you inform him for me?"

"Of course, I'll handle it," Faye replied.

The Meeting

The dean's office was filled with faculty members discussing the recent incident with Jack, the student who had been hospitalized. The atmosphere was tense as they speculated on the strange occurrences and theft in the dorms. Theories ranged from petty theft to more sinister motives, but no clear answers emerged. Faye couldn't shake the sense of unease that hung over the meeting.

A Personal Conversation Between Ren and Miss Faye

It was during the second class of the day. The classroom was quieter than usual; most students were off participating in the sports period, leaving only a handful behind. Ren sat near the window, her chin resting on her hand, staring at the courtyard below. The faint sunlight streaming in caught her glasses, adding a soft glow to her usually sharp features.

Miss Faye walked into the room, her heels clicking softly against the tiled floor. She paused for a moment, noticing Ren sitting alone, her presence a stark contrast to the empty chairs around her.

"Ren," Faye said gently, approaching her desk.

Ren turned her head slightly, her expression blank, but her eyes held a tiredness that hadn't been there before.

"You're not joining the others?" Faye asked, leaning slightly against the desk next to her.

Ren shook her head. "Not really feeling up to it today." Her voice was soft, almost hesitant.

Faye's brow furrowed. She crossed her arms and tilted her head slightly, studying the younger woman. "You've been quieter than usual lately. Are you feeling alright?"

Ren hesitated for a moment, then gave a small shrug. "Just tired."

Faye didn't buy it, but she didn't press. Instead, she softened her tone. "Tired is one thing, but you seem... distant. It's unlike you."

Ren looked out the window, her fingers idly tracing the edge of her notebook. "I'm fine. Just adjusting, I guess. New place, new people."

There was a pause, a heavy silence filled with unspoken words.
