Long Time, No See

I felt myself grinning before I stood up and hurry over to them. Bang PD was first and he swept me up in a hug.

“Congratulations Y/N!” I giggled as he released me and I turned to see PSY. He stood there and held his arms open for me. Smiling, I stepped into his hug. Both Bang PD’s and PSY’s hugs reminded me of my father’s hugs. Uncle Jim and Uncle Barry didn’t hug the same way.

“Congratulations,” PSY whispered into my ear before releasing me. Staff hurried into the room carrying two extra chairs. Everyone stood up and shuffled the chairs so that Bang PD was sitting next to his artists and PSY was sitting between Uncle Jim and Sejin.

“I didn’t know you both were coming,” I said as we sat back down and the staff took the two newcomers’ drink orders.

“We invited them,” Uncle Barry said.

“But, we were unsure if our schedules would allow,” Bang PD said. PSY nodded and sent me a wink.

“We were able to end our schedules a little earlier than originally scheduled,” PSY informed me.

“Thank you for coming,” I said, feeling incredibly happy. Everyone started small conversations around the room and I spoke with both Uncle Jim and PSY. I felt eyes on me, but I didn’t have the courage to look to who it was.

As the servers arrived with the food, I let my eyes roam quickly over the guys. They seemed happy. I guess they were able to move on and I was right about it all. Feeling a bit sad that my feelings were correct, I nodded to myself as Uncle Barry turned to speak to me.

“We don’t know much about the food here. Would you be able to help me out sweetie?” I just smiled at him and looked at the food he was motioning to.

“That one is spicy, but you and Uncle Jim can handle it. The tamales we have from the food truck on 1st Street is spicier,” I told him and he smiled. He served himself some of the noodles and then dished some up for me and Uncle Jim. Uncle Jim seemed to be distracted by his conversation with PSY and Sejin.

Shaking my head, I worked together with Uncle Barry to get us all served. It was as I was eating that I realized all the food took in account the allergies I knew the guys to have as well as their preference. There was some seafood, but it was mostly lobster and shrimp. The rest of the meals had little to no garlic in them as well.

Shaking my head, I concluded that when we got back to the hotel, there was going to be a serious conversation happening with my Uncles. I continued to eat my food and tried not to be too embarrassed by my uncles. They had started to tell them my most embarrassing stories from my teens.

“Wait, she really climbed down into the mud-filled ditch because she saw a dog laying there?” Jungkook asked, needing clarification from Uncle Barry.

“Yes, and it was a good thing she did,” I felt him put an arm around me and I saw the proud smile on his face. I was blushing and covered my face with my hands.

“Why is that?” Sejin asked.

“The dog was hurt. None of us were aware of the fact. She went down into the ditch because she said it looked scared and tired. As she tried to pick it up, she realized that the dog’s back legs were damaged and moving made it yelp.” Uncle Barry said. “So, Y/N stayed in the ditch with it until Jim and I could drive there from home.”

“How long were you in the ditch for, Y/N?” Bang PD asked me.

“Uh, not too long?” I tried to play it off. It was always so embarrassing when my uncles told these stories to anyone who would listen.

“With the time we were there and before the local fire department could come to help us get it out of the ditch, it was just over five hours,” Uncle Jim said, prying my hands from my face. I refused to look at anyone and hid behind my drink.
