Beneath the chaos

As the players go to bed the tension lays heavy on everyone's shoulders. Nobody really dares to fall asleep. After about 30 minutes the dormitory explodes into chaos. Screams pierce in the air, metal clangs against metal and the sound of flesh meeting flesh reverberates through the space. The dim light of the piggy bank above flickers wildly, casting frantic shadows as players turn to each other, driven by desperation and bloodlust.

Y/N fastly stumbles out of her bed, her heart pounding as the sheer panic in the room grips her. She searches the chaotic crowd for her friends, her mind racing to find a safer corner. But before she can react, a heavy body slams into her.

It's Thanos.

The massive player glares down at her, his lips curling into a disgusting, bloodlustful smile. „You're weaker than the others," he growls, his voice cold and menacing. „Easy target."

Y/N looks around in panic, trying to find anyone who could help her, but there was nobody in sight.

Before she can defend herself, he grabs her by the collar and shoves her to the ground, the impact knocking the air out of her lungs. She gasps, her body paralyzed by fear as he raises a broken piece of glass, his intent is clear. Due to the panic, she is not able to move, not able to defend herself at all.

Just seconds before his glass is about to strike her, a blur of movement barrels into him.

In-Ho.

The force of In-Ho's tackle sends Thanos staggering backward. Without hesitation, In-Ho grabs the closest object - an abandoned fork from dinner earlier - and drives it into Thano's shoulder. Thanos roars in pain, stumbling back further, blood dripping from the wound.

„Don't you dare touch her." In-Ho growls, his voice raw with anger. He doesn't give Thanos a chance to recover, shoving the fork hard into his neck until he falls, unconscious.

In-Ho turns back to Y/N, his face pale. He crouches down, his hands trembling as he checks over her. „Are you okay?" he asks, his voice cracking with emotion.

„I- I think so," she stammers, though her legs shake beneath her. When she tries to stand up, pain shoots up her side and she nearly collapses.

In-Ho doesn't hesitate. He picks her up into his arms effortlessly, holding her as if she weights nothing. „I've got you," he murmurs, his tone calm, despite the chaos erupting around them. "You're safe now."

Carrying her through the chaos, he ducks and weaves between the fighting players, narrowly avoiding stray punches and weapons. He finally reaches a bed in a quiet corner, crouching down and sliding underneath it, Y/N still in his arms. The shadows under the bed feel safer than the rest of the room, though the sounds of the massacre continue to rage on.

Y/N clutches his shirt, her body trembling. "In-Ho..." she whispers, her voice shaking. "What's happening? Just why are they doing this?"

"They're scared." He replies, his voice low but steady. "They think the smartest way to survive and gain more money, is to get rid of everyone else. But I'm not letting that happen to you. Not while I'm here."

Her chest tightens at his words, the tears she's been holding back finally spill over. "I... I thought he was going to kill me, it was so close."

He lays his forehead gently against her head, his hand pressing hers. "But he didn't. And again, I will make sure, no one gets the chance to ever again."

For a moment the chaos fades into the background. Underneath the bed, hidden from the nightmare outside, it's just the two of them.

"You always save me." She whispers, her voice soft and filled with gratitude.

"And I always will," he replies, his voice just as quiet. "No matter what."

Her eyes search his face, her tears still falling.

His hand comes forward, brushing the tears off her face with his thumb. "Because I need you," he says, his voice barely audible. "You're the only thing keeping me alive in this place"

She exhales shakily, her forehead leaning onto his. The connection between them is undeniable, unspoken but tangible.

They lay there in silence for a while, holding onto each other's hands as the chaos rages around them, their breaths synchronizing, grounding one another.

"I'm scared." She admits, her voice trembling.

"I know," he whispers, his hand tightening around hers. "But you're not alone. We'll make it through this together."

As the sounds of fighting slowly begin to die down, the two of them remain hidden, their bond stronger than ever abandons the chaos.
