He said it firmly..., voice steady, but his eyes uneasy.

A short pause, a quiet breath.

Zara's pov :
Three months. That's how long it's been since my pendant broke.
No matter how many times I tried to fix it, every attempt ended in failure. The tiny piece of jewellery wasn't just an accessory-it was a part of me, a silent keeper of memories, the only thing I had left of her.
Now, lying there on my dresser, cracked and lifeless, it seemed to mock me. My chest tightened every time I looked at it. Sometimes, I wished I'd never crossed paths with Zaid suleyman. Because if I hadn't, maybe my pendant-and my peace-would still be intact.
But today.
I couldn't let my thoughts spiral-not when the most important day of my life was finally here.
Today wasn't about grief, regret, or broken pieces. Today, I had to focus.
My university was hosting the 'Best Student award ceremony', and I was one of the finalists.
Months of sleepless nights, back-to-back events, and juggling responsibilities had led to this. This was the high point of all my hard work.
Taking a deep breath, I pulled my eyes away from the pendant and walked over to my wardrobe.
My hands touched the soft fabric of the black dress I had chosen days ago. The slight shine under the light felt like a small promise of something good.
I slipped it on carefully. The feathered detail on the side made it look simple but still beautiful. It felt perfect for me..modest but still good. Exactly what I needed to feel confident tonight.
At my dresser, I dabbed on a little makeup-just enough to enhance my features. A hint of blush, a touch of mascara, and soft pink lips. As I stepped into my black heels, I took a moment to steady myself.
Turning toward the mirror, I studied my reflection.
"Simple but classy," I murmured to myself, offering a faint smile.
Grabbing my matching clutch and phone, I took one last glance at my reflection before heading out. My heart raced with hope.. . . . . . . . . . . . . . The university's auditorium was unrecognizable, transformed into a grand venue worthy of the occasion.
Golden fairy lights adorned the ceiling, casting a warm glow over the room. Rows of chairs stretched toward the stage, where a podium stood under a spotlight. Banners hung proudly on either side of the stage, displayed with the words: Award Ceremony.
As I entered, the soft hum of chatter mixed with the faint melody of instrumentall music playing in the background.
My heart pounded harder with every step, my heels clicking against the polished floor.
Maria spotted me from across the room, her face lighting up as she waved me over.
"Wow, Zara!" she exclaimed the moment I reached her. "Are you trying to outshine everyone tonight? Because, girl, you look stunning!"
