Later that night after they were finally able to get the winged unicorn to calm down and go into the new pen, everyone went off to sleep in their rooms. Ever since the accident I have been sleeping in the room on the second floor. I just couldn't bring myself to sleep in that room without her.
Even now, I still can't bring myself to step into that room. I know she's alive and that she's safe, I just can't be near that room anymore.
Eda understood that and was the one to offer me this room after she had found me sleeping on the couch for the fifth night in a row.
It was honestly really kind of her, especially after hearing who this room belonged to. Jolie Ruewen. Their deceased daughter from sixteen years ago. Well it'll be seventeen tomorrow, but that's besides the point.
Finally coming back to reality, I walked over to the vanity that's by the door that I may or may not be using as a desk. Sitting down in the soft white chair, I looked at all the letters that I had gotten while at the ceremony for Dex and Sophie. The one that stood out to me the most though was the one from Tiergan.
Dear Akari,
I hope this letter finds you well. Though we have never truly talked, I feel a deep connection to you through Sophie, and the bond she shared with you. Your existence is shrouded in mystery, and while many questions remain unanswered, one truth stands clear: you are cherished and loved beyond measure.
Life often presents us with challenges and uncertainties, but it is in these moments that we discover our true strength and resilience. You, Akari, are a testament to that. Your journey, though enigmatic, is a beacon of hope and courage.
Know that you are not alone. The world may not fully understand your origins, but those who care for you are dedicated to unraveling the mysteries and ensuring your well-being. Sophie, in particular, held you close to her heart, and her unwavering determination is a source of inspiration for all of us.
Embrace your uniqueness, Akari. It is what makes you extraordinary. The path ahead may be uncertain, but it is also filled with endless possibilities. Trust in yourself, and remember that you have a family who stands beside you, ready to support you through every twist and turn.
May you find strength in the love that surrounds you, and may your journey lead you to the answers you seek. You are a vital part of our world, and your presence enriches the lives of those who have the privilege of knowing you.
Please, Akari, remember that you are not alone. We are all here willing to help with whatever it is you may need. I might have only been your sister's teacher, but I did care for her more than you could ever know. I understand that their loss is heavy and hard to deal with, but that is why we are here.
Akari, if you ever need anything, please don't feel like you can't go to anyone. Because if you need anything, anything at all, me or my son Wylie are always there willing to help.
With warmest regards,
Tiergan
The letter was something that had really helped me to start trusting others. It was because of this letter that I had gotten so close to both Tiergan and his son Wylie in the first place.
Deciding that I needed a distraction from all that was going through my mind, I got up and went out into the fields. The animals have been like my own little therapy group.
And so that is how I spent my night. Out front with all the animals, singing and dancing to the music the gnomes were making.
But nothing would have prepared me for what was to come in only a few short hours.
