Ciara was somewhat shocked by this. Her parents definitely had some blood prejudice, but she hadn't realized it was so deeply rooted within them.

Awhile after Draco had left, the trolley lady came by with her cart brimming with an array of tantalizing sweets. Ciara's eyes lit up with delight as she selected her favorites, savoring the delectable cauldron cakes. Settling back into her seat, she nibbled on a cake while immersing herself in the pages of her book. She also couldn't resist a few chocolate frogs, and a pumpkin juice.

A few moments after finishing her snack, Ciara went to change into her robes. As they were getting closer to the school, she wanted to avoid the rush of children trying to get their robes on. She returned to her compartment, but only for a moment before the train began to slow down.

"There is no way we are there yet," she thought aloud as she went to peer out the window, but it was covered in frost. She looked out the compartment door and saw many heads peering out, trying to figure out what was happening. As soon as she was up, she was thrown back into her seat as the train shifted unexpectedly.

"Lumos," she incanted, and her wand illuminated her compartment. A black-cloaked figure moved just outside the door—a Dementor. Although she knew she was not their target, she still felt a twinge of worry. The Dementor glided into the empty compartment as if to search it, paused briefly, then seemed to sense something and swiftly rushed down the corridor.

Ciara heard a small scream come from the compartment next to hers, so she went to see if there was anything she could do to help. As she opened the door, she found Draco inside, looking slightly flustered.

"Scared?" she asked with an amused grin on her face.

"That was not me," he stated as seriously as he could manage.

"What wasn't you?" Ciara asked, even more amused.

"Oh, shove off," he retorted, giving her shoulder a light shove as he stormed out.

She looked over at Fred and George, who were also sitting in the compartment. "Git," said George while Draco made his why out.

The train began moving again soon after, and Hermione appeared at Ciara's compartment. "I'm so sorry I took so long. Harry needed to talk to us about some things, and then a Dementor came into our compartment!" she exclaimed as she sat across from Ciara.

"It came in here too, but only for a moment. What happened?" Ciara asked.

"It was searching the train for Sirius Black. It gave Harry a hard time, though. He passed out afterward," Hermione whispered.

"Well, I'm not surprised," Ciara replied. "They feed off bad memories, and Harry has plenty of those."

"I suppose," Hermione agreed.

"Well, if it makes him feel any better, I found Draco looking all flustered by himself in a compartment after I heard what I thought was a first-year scream," Ciara said, a small smile creeping onto her face.

"Ah, I bet he'll enjoy hearing that." Hermione said with a small grin. "But I also got a letter from McGonagall saying we both need to meet her in her office before the sorting."

"I got one too. It must be about our classes."

Both Ciara and Hermione had a plethora of classes they wanted to take but never enough time to do so. Last term, they had asked the Transfiguration Professor if there was anything they could do to manage their schedules better.

They talked for the rest of the journey about their summer activities and the classes they were excited to take. Hermione also showed Ciara her new cat named Crookshanks. Ciara loved cats but was a bit allergic to them—not severely, but enough to make it annoying—so she never got one.
