All of the drivers and their girlfriends were invited to a ranch outside of Austin, but only about half decided to go. Charles and Alex were going, along with George and Camilla, Lando and Savannah. Max, Richard and Lewis were all going alone, but Daniel was bringing Kristen, and Carlos was bringing Lilly. Altogether it was a good group.
Three black Suburbans pulled up to the L Hanging J ranch. Formula 1 drivers and their girlfriends piled out into the Texas sunshine. They all looked around at the tree covered lanes, the pots overflowing with flowers, and the massive paddocks with horses grazing.
"Welcome!" Came a loud Texas voice, belonging to John Filmore, the J in the L Hanging J ranch. His wife was standing next to him, Lenora, was the L.
They were a cute couple, but there was another young man that was next to them. He was taller and had dark brown hair and brown eyes shaded by a ball cap. Max looked the young man over, and the way he held himself solidly reminded him of Morgan.
"I'm Mason Earling," The young man said, extending his hand. Max took it and smiled.
"Nice to meet you," Max said, trying to ignore the fact that this was probably Morgan's brother, even though he noticed the fact that Mason stood the same way Morgan did, even though Mason was probably a good ways taller.
"Morgan hasn't scared you off, so that's good," Mason said with a lighthearted chuckle.
"No, she hasn't," Max replied with a laugh.
"Alright, we'll give you a tour," John announced after everyone was settled on the ground. The group walked down one of the tree covered lanes, and to the right was a beautiful farmhouse, painted white with black trim. Cats sat in the shade the porch provided, next to a sleeping German Shepherd.
They kept walking until they reached a massive red barn, with horses grazing in stalls outside.
"Whoa," Max said out loud.
"Agreed," Richard replied next to him.
John stood on the cement pad and clapped his hands together.
"Ladies and gentlemen, this is the barn, where we keep all thirty-two of our horses. Over the hill are our pastures, filled with some of the finest cattle in Texas. If the weather permits, we can go riding this afternoon," John declared.
There was a ripple of excitement among the girls, who all giggled with eagerness. Then, there was the sound of hooves coming up one of the lanes. A cloud of dust was kicked up, and Max turned and saw a small figure sitting tall on a horse. The horse's coat was a black color that glistened in the sunshine.
"Morgan!" John called, and the figure turned in the saddle to look at him.
"Yeah?" Morgan replied. Everyone in the group shot glances at Max, and Max swallowed hard, trying to ignore them. He didn't want any trouble with Morgan, not now. Daniel Riccardo, next to Max, smirked.
"Hope you're buckled up," Daniel whispered.
"Shut up," Max retorted from gritted teeth.
"What trail do you recommend for this group?" John asked, gesturing to the drivers and their girlfriends.
"I'd do Shady Bend, it's out of the sun and pretty chill," Morgan replied as she dismounted smoothly, both of her feet landing on the gravel. She gave the horse a loving pat then led her horse into the barn, the hooves echoing through the barn. There was a gun at her thigh.
Savannah and Camilla shared a look, and Richard gave Max a grin. Max, however, clenched his jaw.
"Morgan won't bother you y'all today, she's going to collect firewood," Mason said with a laugh. He was a breath of fresh air from his sister.
