Chapter One: Unseen Admirer
The New York skyline glittered outside the windows of the firehouse headquarters of the Ghostbusters, but inside, it was business as usual. Egon Spengler sat hunched over his workbench, surrounded by an organized chaos of beakers, strange equipment, and a stack of reference books that teetered on the edge of collapse. His pen moved swiftly across a notebook as he scribbled formulas, his mind wholly absorbed in his latest experiment.
Egon didn’t notice the faint shimmer of energy flickering in the corner of the room.
Harry Potter, in his astral form, hovered just out of sight. He had stumbled across the Ghostbusters purely by accident a few weeks ago while investigating strange paranormal activity in the city. Watching them work had been fascinating, but it was Egon Spengler who had truly captured his attention.
Egon’s sharp intellect, dry wit, and unflappable demeanor struck a chord in Harry. Before he knew it, he was spending more time at the firehouse than he should have, always careful to remain unseen. But his feelings for Egon grew stronger each day, and Harry couldn’t resist the urge to show his admiration.
Tonight, he had decided to leave Egon a gift.
---
Harry floated silently closer, his ethereal form barely a whisper in the air. From his pocket—an odd quirk of astral projection in his case—he pulled out a small vial of powdered unicorn hair, wrapped in delicate green ribbon. He’d found it at a magical apothecary and thought it might be useful for one of Egon’s experiments.
He placed the vial carefully on the edge of the workbench, just within Egon’s line of sight, and retreated to the corner of the room.
Egon looked up, his brow furrowing as he noticed the tiny vial. He reached out and picked it up, examining the shimmering substance inside.
“What’s this?” Egon muttered to himself, turning the vial over in his hand.
Harry grinned from his hidden vantage point. The mix of confusion and curiosity on Egon’s face was adorable.
---
The next day, Egon gathered the team in the main room of the firehouse, holding the vial in one hand.
“Does anyone here know where this came from?” he asked, his tone more curious than accusatory.
Peter Venkman smirked. “Looks like someone’s got a secret admirer, Spengs. Maybe a ghost has the hots for you?”
Egon rolled his eyes. “Highly unlikely. Most Class Five entities lack the intelligence for such gestures.”
Ray Stantz leaned over to look at the vial. “Looks like some kind of alchemical ingredient. But where would it have come from?”
Winston Zeddemore shrugged. “Could be a client left it by mistake. You were working late last night, right?”
Egon nodded slowly. “Yes, but I don’t recall seeing anyone. The security cameras didn’t record any unusual activity either.”
Peter wiggled his eyebrows. “Maybe it’s the Tooth Fairy.”
Egon ignored him, placing the vial on the table. “I’ll run an analysis. Whatever this is, it could be useful.”
---
In his astral form, Harry watched the exchange with a mix of amusement and nervousness. He hadn’t planned for Egon to involve the entire team.
Still, seeing Egon’s intrigue made Harry’s heart flutter. Perhaps he’d leave something else tomorrow—just subtle enough to keep the game going but not enough to reveal himself.
For now, Harry drifted away, the faintest shimmer of his presence lingering in the firehouse as Egon returned to his work, oblivious to the unseen admirer watching over him.
