"Get back to work Y/N."

The sound of your coworker tapping a pen on the binder you laid beside woke you up. Staring at blue-lit screens practically drove you nuts. Time never seemed to pass in this stale office. Most of your entertainment and enjoyment came from watching the ants carry a small crumb away to their nest during your break. But after the assigned short breaks during your work hours, you felt numb. The everyday lifestyle of sitting in a cubicle felt like you were driving your young life straight into a wall.

Was this all worth it in the end?

You thought back to your parents, how they constantly worked in and out of jobs just to support you and your brother. They wished for you to live the life you wanted to, since they never got to fulfill the dreams they hoped for. White walls and constant headaches from bright monitors is not the way you wished to live life. Yet this is what you landed on just as a way to support yourself in the city. The corporation you worked for was even worse. Treating every one of their employees as robots. There had to be more to life than this. You shook off the thousands of thoughts that raced through your mind and got back to work.

"Only 6 more hours Y/N. Get it together!" You forced yourself back to reality.

The long day ended and you drove back home to the apartment you stayed in. Small, sure, but it was nice enough to keep your things tidy as well as comfortable to move around in. You weren't having any guests over anytime soon so this was luxury. You plopped down onto the end of your bed, letting your feet dangle. After every shift your mind floods with thoughts that are not always pleasant. Today was that day. You could feel the weird light headedness that came about before every headache. You scooted towards your bedside drawer and opened it to find the large bottle of painkillers. The lid came off with a satisfying 'pop' before you shook it into your hand.

Nothing...

You dropped the bottle before flying back onto your bed groaning in annoyance.

"Great, a terrible headache for dinner tonight."

Your arm extended and slapped onto the nearby pillow and plopped it onto your face. You squeezed your eyes shut, only trying to rid of the feeling and hoping it doesn't irritate you for the rest of the night. Then your mind got to racing to more thoughts and responsibilities that you had to handle.

What do I need from the grocery store? Does my tank need to be filled? Should I cancel those plans this weekend? What am I eating tomorrow? When am I gonna clean out my closet. Wait. MY CLOSET!

You almost sprung out of bed to the closet doors. Swinging them open ferociously, you started to dig through the unpacked boxes that laid on top of one another.

"Bathroom...Kitchen..Bedroom...AHA! Medicine!"

You hurriedly opened the box and pushed aside pill bottles, thermometers, and emergency bandages to see a small clear bottle of ibuprofen with a couple of pills left inside. In a swift motion you unscrewed the bottle and shook two pills into your hand, then downed them in one quick gulp. You laid down on the floor in relief. Knowing the pain would subside soon, you let the pills take their effect and closed your eyes during the process.

-Couple hours later-

You woke up to the overbearing white light that emitted from your ceiling fan. It seems you fell asleep while waiting for the pills to take action. You sat up to rub your head from resting on the hardwood floors. Hair tangled, clothes untucked, you reached for your phone in your back pocket to see what time you slept til.
